Shooting Stars (2023)
Solid basketball movie.
It's a decent movie! It's not the same as the documentary for sure as it's based off the book. It's nice seeing parts of the team you don't really see in the "more than a game" version, like the boys hitting house parties or meeting girls.
Basketball scenes in movies can be "make or break" in movies sometimes but this definitely holds up. An amazing true story that kept to the main story as faithfully as possible, a few changes could've been left out but it was a good movie. It's more of a kids/young teen movie but if you're a hoop head or interested in Lebron's humble beginnings; it's a good time.
Good soundtrack and some nice sneaky cameos too!
Blockbuster (2022)
Not too bad, not too good.
Half decent cast, JB Smoove definitely saves this show. They fail to capture the zeitgeist of Blockbuster though & the fake movie covers kill it for me, I spend time looking at their "rip off" remake covers probably for legal reasons but it's kind of annoying.
A lot of the jokes seem rushed and the nostalgia and modern clash of writing seems lazy in the run. If they did their homework, kept to the era and did things right this show would be kick ass. But it does kind of feel like a knock off superstore trying to bring in a throw back audience but fails to do so with everything else going on. Rushed jokes, lines and packing too much in the time needed. If they gave it time & stuck to the criteria this show might work. Just not for me.
Naked and Afraid: Dunes of Despair (2014)
Good episode!
One of the more entertaining pairings in the series..
A lot of drama and not what you expect!
As one of the earlier episodes in the series it is quite raw.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
Let it go..
3 was ok, 4 stank & this is just corporate greed..
genuinely don't waste your time!
Try hard, gimmicky & not much depth.
Just because Home Alone has become a Christmas classic isn't a reason to make another & another & another...
Drunk History: Australia (2018)
Brendon Fevola...Hughesy?!
History huh?
Australians hate a cash grab copycat concept.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
Underrated Bond movie.
I feel that this movie stays true to the book.
The fact people assume this is the unpopular bond is ridiculous.
The Australian James Bond happened to have his first movie as the role of an undercover Scottish geneticist. So no wonder it didn't feel like a true 007 over all but it has all the elements of a great bond movie and Lazenby delivers nothing but class in this retro spy film!
Ocean's Eight (2018)
Gimmicky!
Genuinely felt driven by corporate greed, reminds me of the ghostbusters remake.
Lame city.
Man of the House (1995)
Wholesome fun.
Epic '90s vibes.
Great cast & laid back story that'll keep you coming back for more.
A great rainy day movie to rewatch over & over.
Jungle 2 Jungle (1997)
Perfect family film.
Combines the tropics of the Amazon, the hustle of New York City & peak Tim Allen antics to create a well rounded comedy that's perfect for the whole family.
I can't praise this enough!
Seinfeld: The Shoes (1993)
Best sitcom ever.
If you're not happy with this, I don't know what you're after.
Day to day life humour, genius!
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Better than expected
I ended up watching because my girlfriend said it was amazingly under rated & I'd have to agree with her
1917 (2019)
Non stop!
Loved the cinematography & had me stressed the whole way through.
Best War film I've seen.
