Shadow and Bone (2021)
I rolled my eyes a 100 more times than a 15 y/o girl does in a year.
The lead actress is the most uninteresting character... you might get curious about the supporting characters but she's bland and annoying ( maybe she's written that way / it's her acting) I can't understand how someone can possess and demonstrate such power but be so useless at the same time. The villain is much more interesting. Also, I hope the introduction of the many different characters leads to something because so far they're only adding to the chaos. The world building is abysmal, idk where's where and why this side is fighting the other... and the angst omg I wanted to puke, the sad thing is this had so much potential.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Starts off decently and then it's a pretentious mess...
What was the point of everything in this movies? None of the plot points amount to anything in the end.
The ghosts? I get that each influences the couple but to what end, one killed the other now what?
The first owners?
The brothers who were hired by the woman?
Willis?
The faking of the recommendation letter by the husband?
The drowned chairman, do they find out the true manner of his death?
The possessed projector?
Nothing has a complete storyline/ ending. I don't get the main plot ending either, does he drown? If he dies that way that's so unsatisfactorily.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Ep 1-4 were 10 stars and the rest brought down the average to a five.
It's almost as if the writer was munching on edibles and they only started to hit when he was writing ep 5 and then he went down the rabbit hole from there. I'm actually upset I finished the entire thing.
Dröm (2019)
I wanted to like this...
I can't put my finger on it, maybe it's the acting/ writing/ directing/ all three but something is amiss. It had potential to be a charming sci-fi series à la 'stranger things'. This show drags and not in a way that builds suspense but in the slow burn kind of way but instead of fire they're using wet coal. Even when things are happening you lose interest. The writing is slow for the most part and then it turns choppy and the characters act in way that isn't consistent, even in character growth there's no real pay off it feels insincere/not earned. I even lost interest in the alien rocks and their story, I stopped watching at ep 4.
The Letter for the King (2020)
Had potential and then...
Idk what happened. The main character was disappointing. The main character was either written very poorly or the actor did a basic job. The overall cast was not bad but I couldn't care less what happened to either one of them, the writing & plot was abysmal and don't get me started on the lame plot twist, urgh! it didn't make sense at all and that ending? Laughable. I'm mad I actually watched all of the episodes because a part of me thought it'll improve, I had high hopes. Maybe I should read the books you lot in the comment section are going on about.
