Good Story, Very Interesting But Sad
1 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how people who are supposed to be caring for others and trying to help them get better, just kill them. It's like they have no conscience at all. These gentlemen should have had the best care that the VA could give them, but this evil-to-the-bone "nurse" decided they were just victims. How awful! I'm afraid that if this was one of my relatives, I'd still be beating on that "nurse" with a Karma bat.

That being said, the first gentleman talked about was a paratrooper at Ft. Campbell was mistakenly said to be a part of the 11th. Airborne Division but, unless I'm missing something, Ft. Campbell is the 101st (Screaming Eagles) and the 11th Division is.based in Alaska.

Always a Great Show - Poor Kino
17 July 2023
This episode is named for a dog named Kino who was "spayed" twice before. Come to find out, she wasn't - a previous "veterinarian" removed a kidney instead of an ovary! The doctor told Kino's owners that he/she removed something but didn't know what it was! I am flabbergasted about this and hope they (Kino's owners/Hooman Mom and Dad) sued the POS! That he/she removed a kidney and didn't have a clue what he/she removed is just unbelievable. As usual, this doctor's office fixed the problem with their usual expertise, got Kino all taken care of and back to herself. Thank goodness for qualified, honest doctors at PPP!

Hoarders: Manuel/Carla (2012)
Season 6, Episode 6

Good Show
17 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think I'm cut out to watch Hoarders as I sit and yell at the people. I'm astounded at how much some of these people think their trash is worth and I'm amazed at how selfish the hoarders are (I know, I know, it's a mental illness but still). On this episode Manuel's house was filthy and his grandchildren were living with him. The authorities found out about his hoarding and took the children. The children were his son's - and his son's house was absolutely filthy too. At this son's house, the kids had nothing - no beds, no clothing, just a few toys and that was it!! Yet the son got mad at his mother (not Manuel's current wife) for being appalled at the filth and blamed his dad for getting the children taken away. At the son's house, the one that said his children were his top priority, the ceiling was falling in and it was just squalor everywhere those beautiful children lived. CPS was right to take the kids. Manuel's current wife attempted suicide while the clean-up was going on but hopefully the clean-up will help with her depression and outlook. On Carla's hoarding case, she wanted to cry all the time and feel sorry for herself for being in bad, abusive relationships. She finally got a grip on the crying and bad relationship thing but I don't know if she'll stick with the wonderful changes the clean-up crew accomplished.

Everyone Dreams of Living in Evening Shade
19 July 2021
I fell in love with this show about 5 minutes into the first season! I watched each and every show with delight and nostalgia. Even though I didn't grow up with my family life living in Evening Shade, it was still a safer, quieter, slower time. The actors in this show were cast perfectly - there was no one I'd have changed out. The lines were written and delivered with such ease and great timing it was as if they did live those parts. Yes, you could sometimes see and know what was coming but that was part of the charm. About 3 or 4 years ago I decided that for Christmas each year one of my requested items would be a dvd series of shows no longer on but that I missed - and Evening Shade was the first one. It was.one of the best Christmas presents ever!

I Almost Didn't Watch This
16 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I started this movie off but Alvin got on my nerves so bad I stopped watching it and waited a couple more weeks. He wasn't just cantankerous, he was mean. I was so glad to see his attitude get better while preserving his spirit. The actors did an excellent job - absolutely excellent. I could tell what they would be going through as patients, as the girlfriend losing her love, as the care givers who deal with love and loss and pain every day. I don't know if LeVar Burton has went through something like this with a loved one but compassion and feeling came through with his directing of this film. I'm really, really glad I stuck with it and kept watching - and you will be too.

Lovely, Still (2008)

Excellent Storyline and Acting
1 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After reading the intro and starting the movie, I was slightly confused about things but started piecing it together. However, when the scenes made it apparent about what was going on, it was just heartbreaking. Still, it seemed that things were in control - until that one morning and it just tore me up. That's when the tearing up and crying started. It gives you a different perspective on dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. While it tears your heart out, it's scary also because you don't know if that will be you or not. I have always been a fan of Ellen Burstyn and Martin Landau and they didn't disappoint me with this movie either. I have read a couple of reviews on here that made it apparent they didn't even watch the movie (one said it was a story about finding love late in life which was just so wrong and said nothing about the true story). Don't listen to them - watch this and think about the other side of these diseases.

Loved This Show
30 March 2020
While taking up streaming I was looking for new and better shows - and, very fortunately, found this one. I absolutely loved this show. The original cast (Jack, Brian, Gerry and Sandra) were my favorites, but as they left and got replaced, the new actors made it work somehow. While UCOS' boss, Mr. Strickland, had started being more involved when the original cast was there, he faded out some when the new crew came on board. I had liked him being involved - he started off very skeptical but then they won him over and he was a huge champion of theirs and cleared the way for them while butting heads with politicians and officials. I kind of thought that he and Sandra may have had a chance at a romantic relationship. I loved Brian's know-everything intelligence. The original team had more endearing quirks than the replacement crew and we got to know them more in-depth. Still, I hated to see it come to an end but I had streamed all the episodes (go to where I rationed the last 5 episodes and saved watching them for when I was up at night and alone) and it sadly came to an end.

Nice Movie With Great Quirks
17 March 2020
The only thing I knew before watching this movie was that John Lithgow and Blythe Danner were in it. At first it was a little slow and draggy but then Ed (Lithgow) starts interacting with Ronnie (Danner) and it picks up. His relationship with his son needed a lot of work and the viewer can clearly see what is wrong between them and what each needs to do - but they've been fighting for so long that it's just become the norm. Slowly, things change between Ed and Ronnie and Ed and his son. I liked it a lot - it would be a good movie to settle on the couch with a cup of coffee or tea and just enjoy it.

Season 2 Is a Let Down
3 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
When I started watching this show I was a big, big fan. I liked the topics in each episode, I liked that it showed sometimes we need to make time and go out of our way to interact with people. It showed that sometimes people who do need help either won't admit to it or they're not even aware they need help. It did start to get a little far-fetched at the end of Season 1 but I was still a fan. Now I've watched the first episode of Season 2 and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Cara has went to London, Rakesh has an honest-to-goodness job, Miles has his podcast job now. Then the God Account sent a friend request to a newcomer - Joy - who, at first, wants nothing to do with helping others. But, come to find out, she was a public defender (attorney). She's as much a public defender as I am the Queen of Sheba. Jessica Lu plays Joy and, trying to be nice about this, she's not a good actress. Or maybe the script is just so stilted there is no room for acting skills to come out. I think the writers are trying to branch out the characters and give them more depth, more story lines maybe, but it isn't working. I hope the writing and the acting pick up as I like the premise of the show.

Bob Hearts Abishola (2019–2024)

Easy to Watch and Funny
3 October 2019
I like this new series. I've been a fan of Billy Gardell for awhile now. M & M just cemented his line timing and sense of humor for me. It's got some good lines, some good jokes and very good timing on delivery of those jokes. I'm undecided on the aunt and uncle yet but I like Abishola and her son both. I even like her co-workers that she talks to about some of the Bob/husband/life things. Vernee Watson-Johnson is one of her co-workers and I've liked her since I saw her in Welcome Back Kotter. There are some strong actors in this show with good scripting and funny, endearing lines. The characters have a real quality about them and the actors are good enough to get you involved in the show.

This Is Just AWWWFULLLL!
3 October 2019
I expected much more from Patricia Heaton after watching her for years on ELR. The jokes aren't funny (so that means they aren't jokes), the script is just stupid, the acting leaves sooo much. I don't know who would rate this more than a 1. I tried watching the first episode all the way through 3 times and just couldn't put up with it. I did get about 3/4 of the way through the last time but the bad acting, bad jokes, bad punch lines, bad script were just too bad.
