Full Moon Fever (2023)
Full Moon Fever is a howl!
I'll start by saying this is my favorite of Madison's films. It's very difficult to carve a path as an independent filmmaker, yet David Madison doesn't let that stop him. With nothing but family, good friends, and a passion for film, he is able to bring his stories to life on the big screen.
I saw this in theaters today, and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Full Moon Fever has moments that make you jump, make you laugh, and make you think deeply.
There was excellent use of locations in the writer/director's hometown to give a large scope to the environment within the film.
Madison plays the main character, Hunter, with great emotion. Although short lived, Scott Schiaffo and Marianne Hagan's performances were excellent to say the least. Amanda Madison, who plays the daughter of Hunter, Jackie, made me believe she was scared, executing her role perfectly.
Full Moon Fever was all together a great feel-good film for the spooky season!
Last Night in Soho (2021)
Beautifully shot, but story falls short.
Wright is one of my favorite directors, so of course I was excited about his newest film.
The first half of the film was fantastic, before you really get into the heart of the story. Cinematically, it was stunning.
The second half moves on from the unknown hope, to a cheap, goosebumps level of "horror".
I will say that the pacing of the film was great, I didn't realize it was a two hour long movie going into it, but it didn't feel long at all.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Fans of the game will love it!
So, aside from some cheesy dialogue, and some crazy action stunts (as expected from a video game adaptation) this was a pretty good film.
As a lover of t he original games, it felt so relieving that they stuck true to the original games. It has a mixture of Resident Evil 1 and 2.
Although compared to the original adaptation, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is the closest we've come to the original games, they DID mess a few things up. Some were blatant. I have a feeling this was for pacing purposes and made room for a better script, however fans of the games will clearly pick these issues apart. That being said, it didn't effect me enjoying the ride.
This is by no means and great film, however, for nostalgia purposes, I give it a solid 8.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Fun, but not amazing.
The concept was creative, and the ride was fun. However the process they take is convoluted and their idea of time travel seems to be all over the place, enough for you to say "really?". Other than that, it was a fun experience, even if it was a bit too long. Pratt did a good job, even if the script didn't help him at all.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Can't overlook how bad it is...
First let's talk about some cool aspects:
When they go through WB catalog, it's actually pretty exciting. Rick and Morty, the matrix, Austin Powers and especially road runner in Mad Max were all really cool, even if this entire movie is one giant ad for WB.
I can't stress enough how much of a let down this movie is. The original Space Jam is tarnished now. This just proves that throwing an absurd amount of money into a project can't put a bandaid on terrible writing, and horrific acting from Lebron James. If you don't have kids, don't hope to feel nostalgia for your childhood favorite film.
Everything with live action is cringeworthy. This is a less entertaining, poorly written version of Ready Player One.
