Limbo (2023)
Boring
Saw it on a plane, whole time I was wondering when something was going to happen. Nothing ever happened. Not immersive, spent a lot of the movie noticing how bad the acting is overall.
A lot of scenes where nothing happens that's supposed to be character development but it's not because you don't care. I don't know who any of the characters names are or what they do or what their motivations are because the storyteller failed.
The main character is pretty good maybe he'll be in a good movie in the future. It seems like being in black and white to trick dumb people into thinking it's artsy and therefore good seems to have been pretty effective.
I gave it a 2 instead of a 1 since it wasn't made in Hollywood and therefore should be held to lower standards.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Nostalgia attempt that doesn't work
You can tell they were really banking on having all the stars return with the script, Lawrence Fishbourne's absence and replacement kinda works cuz they establish him as a new character, but it doesn't work at all for Hugo Weaving's absence. Especially with the call backs like "just like old times" in their fight. It's not like old times cuz who even are you? You're some new actor that has no background other than "I am Agent Smith now by the way" and we're supposed to just go with it. It doesn't work at all.
As for the rest, they literally have a Matrix 4 reboot meeting inside the film Matrix 4 which is pretentious and I remember during the big fight scene thinking "this is like a Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV fight scene" which isn't good considering that was a TV show and this supposed to be a blockbuster movie.
Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight (2008)
Animation sucks
Bad movie that somehow got Kiefer Sutherland before he was a star back in 1980 when this movie was animated. Oh wait it says 2008. Good lord. Also I have to write 10 lines of text. OK. This movie sucks, the books are good, and since the make movies from old fantasy novels ship has sailed and Dragonlance got on the boat with this, this is all Dragonlance fans will ever have. There will never be that Lord of the Rings tier movie to capture what the novels were. All you'll ever have is a movie that would've been laughed off of the local antenna station back in the 80s for being poor quality animation that 6th grade art teachers would fail their students for.
