Maid (2021)
Resonated
The most realistic story I've seen on Netflix. Real, cruel, touching. I sometimes found myself shaking my head seeing how wrong Alex was in making some decisions, and how ill-fated her life was. Alex had grown up a lot through her daughter's 3-year-old life.
I see myself from Alex from a similar background. For those who had experienced, you will love the show. For those who hadn't, you could just figure out how lucky you are.
Nomadland (2020)
There's a reason to be a nomad
I love the way a lady described the wedding ring on Fern's hand: a ring means it never ends, so does her love for her husband.
"What's remembered lives", I thought Fern would not explain this nomad life in the movie, but she did. Her whole journey on the road is endorsing her husband's existence , since they have no children.
For those who know what it likes to mourn for long, they won't find it boring. It's a nice try to portray pain in depth. And for those who ALWAYS try to find an answer in a movie, she did moved on, okay?
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
A movie to fuel one's life.
"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing."said Andy.
I've been told a couple of times this movie is a must-watch before I die. A movie with almost all actors, and in a prison, is a bit masculine to me. Yet I occasionally read it on Wikipedia and also saw that in Netflix by chance, I gave it a go.
On the ground of some personal experience I could feel how Andy feels. This movie is about persisting faith of oneself and of life, even for those serving lifetime sentence.
"Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'" is the best quote. If you are in search of a powerhouse movie, this would be the choice.
I am from Hong Kong, I would also recommend "The Greed of a Man" (a Hong Kong drama) and "Itaewon Class"( a South Korea drama). The male lead achieved their lifetime goal spending long enough time like Andy. We all know they are fictions, but so what? Just learn the message.
Felicity (1998)
College memories never fade
I find Felicity's craze over Ben is similar......I have a similar story except that was way after college.Instead I followed where he worked, and there is a Noel in the story as well. After two decades the story still repeats in reality, so I must say the script writer is genius.
I very much enjoyed how the story portraits the friendships even though there really were some heartbreaking moments and if I were one of them I would absolutely not forgiving . "College thing" version of love like Felicity mentioned is anyhow a bit repetitive, and I don't appreciate much the Halloween episode. It's cheesy and boring. But all in all, despite the fact that Ben is an incredible turd( that you could always find a Ben for real. I imagine how will the story going later, I hope Felicity would get mature enough that Ben will never change cuz he has ADD!) I find this story doesn't fade out as time goes by.
