Minority Report (2002)
Compelling concept but it could be better
It's a very engaging story about police predicting the future! I don't see Tom Cruise as a perfect candidate for the protagonist. If only Colin Farrell and Tom Cruise traded places! Then I could witness Colin Farrel's potential in the main character. Instead of hoping that he is a good actor in a sideshow. If that changed and Steven Spielberg updated the graphics and some outdated storylines. Then it could have been better if not a perfect story. That my opinion or advice for any movie producer or Christopher Nolan or Steven Spielberg is listening and not ignoring. Maybe add some mincing robots and aliens to add some spice to the soup. Also it desperately deserves a post credit scene!
After Death (2023)
Good or survivable
Great compelling concept! Terrible horrific execution! My favorite section of this film was definitely the bald catholic man's story. The atheist man that lived through literal hell! Great description and detail with that one sequence! Everything else was just completely confusing, chaotic, and especially choppy to understand. It was very interesting yet inconsistent and inconceivable! All of the other sequences and characters sounded very similar and blended together. It was thrilling for a few moments yet disappointing overall in a mixed misused misunderstood plot and application. It deserved more respect and attention then it received!
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Great vibes and style! What happened to the plot!!
This story is a great mystery and almost spy remix of the original and classic Spider Man movies! The villain and the protagonist's girlfriend's cop dad are extremely underdeveloped and nearly pointless! I love the sideshow about what Peter's parents were involved with! That should have been the movie's main story. The grand adventures of Spider Man's spy scientist parents! My favorite parts are when he discovers the covert lab inside an abandoned subway tunnel and if he finds any video recordings of other classified documentation of what military programs they were working on genetic enhancement using spider bites? I think that anybody who has not seen this movie yet should watch any flashbacks or anything including Peter's parents and just investigate the rest of the confusing pointlessness.
Dune (2021)
Almost perfect, but so close.
The CGI, cast, action, and most of the story is perfectly executed interpretation of the original book. Without the exceptions of Duncan Idaho, the duke, and Paul most if not all of the side characters are underused and underdeveloped including the compelling and conflicted villains! I know that the movie is a part 1 of TBD but if you didn't know that like me and some others then you would be extremely disappointed and underwhelmed by the sudden ending. I personally would have loved to know more about House Atredies and the rest of the imperium specifically Gurney Hallack's background information and motivations. I recommend watching everything but don't be surprised when it ends and you left with a cliff hanger!
The Creator (2023)
Great! (until you see the ending)
This story is interesting and compelling. It has all of the perfect perspectives necessary. It is amazingly gritty and when it's not it is realistically futuristic. The central character is likable and relatable in almost every way: loss, regret, waiting for vengeance, self doubt, and so much more! My favorite parts are watching LA or Vegas get nuked, the opening raid at the laboratory, the background information at the beginning displayed in an awe inspiring way, and of course NOMAD! My favorite characters are the American general and the American soldier who the protagonist attempts to rescue from the battlefield. The ending however is very unsatisfying and slightly predictable. When NOMAD my absolutely favorite object in the story was destroyed and there is no response from North America or even a brief summary at the end. The producers assumed that, "Hey, America will not care if their billion dollars burns and they will decide to negotiate."
I can not explain how frustrating and heartbreaking that was in the theater! 😖
That was when the producers and directors lost their minds! 😫
Man of Steel (2013)
Great! If you skip most of it.
The overall concept is creative and intriguing! However Superman himself and almost everyone besides Zod and Jor-El are extremely underwhelming and underdeveloped in 85% of the story. I still love all the scenes and visuals on Krypton. They should have spent all or most of the story there. They could have done some serious world building and some Krytoneon history. Also they should have added more backstory for Zod. For example, make the story from Zod's or one of his soldiers perspectives or make him seem like a hero or at least the protagonist. If you ignore Superman and all of the scenes on Earth then it's an enjoyable experience. My recommendation would be to watch all of the scenes on Krypton and just ask someone about the rest or watch another review on YouTube or somewhere else.
