The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Classically bad
I saw this movie for the first time in 2023 and I have seen the other more recent versions and thought they were so so but I have watched multiple classic horror movies well after they released due to being born in 87 so I go into these expecting the dated cringe of older films but this one is just too much! The actor that played the brother played it so cringe and weird, they come across a hitchhiker and he has an unexplained birthmark on his face or its blood either way he looks like a meth head that nobody would ever pick up and he does one weird thing after another before we move to the "massacre" which is them walking literally one by one into a house where they get surprise knocked out and cut up with a chainsaw. The grand finale has the final girl running with a chainsaw feet behind her head screaming at full blast. That chase goes through bushes then back to his house where instead of opening the front door he chainsaws through his own door and finishes with her getting knocked out by the straw end of a broom for some reason! The fact this movie is not only revered but is labeled a classic and has spawned sequels blows my mind! Pure awful!
4/20 Massacre (2018)
Pretty but far from perfect!
This movie is hard to judge because I liked some things about it. The premise is a pretty good idea but most the execution is flawed! There are so many cringe moments/performances, like the odd from the beginning ranger, the girl that is way too into weed to be an adult and the cliche white hunter dude but the biggest fault in it are the cringe lines by almost all the characters, one of which I had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly (you will almost certainly know the part). I don't want to be all negative cause I did enjoy and finish the movie somehow but that was a lot to do with only a couple pretty good performances and the overall attractiveness level of the cast (but even that was marred by the horrible 'surprised look' of the lead actress.
