The Girl Next Door (2004)

Very disappointed.

I couldn't wait for this to come out on video and when it did yesterday I went right out and rented it. I love Elisha from 24 and the idea of her being the porn star next door with a heart of gold sounded too good to be true. Well the movie sucks, and sucks really bad. The opening montage was really good but the second Emile Hircsh stepped on screen it went down hill from there. I though Elisha looked great and did as well as she could but the story was really bad and completely unbelievable, I could forgive that if the movie was funny but it really wasn't except for a few small parts. Emile Hircsh stinks as an actor and I couldn't believe when I started to listen to the commentary that the director said he wouldn't have made the movie without him. First I don't believe that because this is a first time director and he's not going to turn down a job if he can't get a no name actor, and secondly Emile was the worst thing about the movie. I wanted to slap his character so much that when he finally got punched I cheered. I couldn't relate to him at all and I really thought he was a giant douche. I didn't believe the porn star character either, it was badly written and I don't believe for a second that she would fall for any of the mushy stuff like she did. This movie really sucked is one of the biggest disappointments for me this year.

this isn't a very good movie, mainly because it has no heart, everyone is so callous. but dominique swain looks just yummy in that school-girl outfit, what great legs. But there isn't enough of that. and this movie really gets lost. I know dominique is worthy of better projects than this.

100 Girls (2000)

this movie stunk

I am a big fan of the directors first movie, 8 days a week, I thought it was hilarious and daring. I just saw his follow up 100 girls and I am very dissapointed. I found this film to be very annoying and self absorbed, and most of all it was it was so unbelievable. the main character spends a great deal of time prentendng to be a girl and hanging out with people who know him as a man and none of them recognize him or figure out he's a man, yet anyone who met him in real life would be able to tell he's a man from a mile away. Plus the dialoge was so irritating, the guy would never stop talking and none of what he said made any sense.

I really hated this movie!

I can't believe so many people on this page like this movie. this is one of the worst movies ever made. People are saying how carageous the lead character is when in actuallity she's a dispicable human being. SPOILER ALERT! Minnie Driver (who could never win a miss America Pageant) is the lead who's desire to be a beauty queen is so great she denies her own daughter just so she can enter a contest, no wonder her mother doesn't support her, she's the devil in flesh. This movie is so contrived and implausible that the only reason it could've gotten made is because Sally Field wanted to direct. Minnie Driver is humiliating to watch, you just either want to strangle her or laugh at her when she's singing(what's up with some of her outfits, talk about laughable. the little girl from the Pepsi commercials is awful,she just screams her lines. This is the first time I've seen a child demand to live with foster parents before, i don't imagine that happens in real life too much, I believe her career is over for now. Please, do yourself a favor and stay away, if you like this movie please seek help.

the b-movie slasher lives

the first time i saw this movie i actually rented it, at full new release price, and hated it. I thought it was idiotic and just plain bad. I feel it may have been due to the fact that I had paid four bucks to rent it. A couple months later I found it on sale at a blockbuster for 1.99 and even though I didn't like the movie I bought it anyway and I have since watched it numerous times and now it is one of my top 'guilty pleasures'. the ending still doesn't make complete sense but all the goofy dialogue and the twists and turns have made this movie a classic b-movie,the average person hates it but it appeals strongly to a certain population. this movie contains Anna Ferris from Scary Movie fame and is dressed in a cheerleader outfit that she wears on dates and around town (even though if you watch closely, no one else in the school is wearing the uniform, she must be the schools only cheerleader.), and it feature Sarah Lancaster from the new Saved by the Bell as bitchy vamp who likes to wear short skirts (her nude scene is a body-double, it says so in the credits.). This little movie needs to be viewed more than once to appreciate it.

Love and a .45 (1994)

this movie is heavily inspired by Quintin Tarentino and does lack some originality. But that having been said this is a very enjoyable film. It's mainly a love story of two people who are on the run from the law and on their way to Mexico. The film is full of quirky characters and dialogue that will keep you entertained and enough violence to satisfy an action junkie. What i really love about the film is Renee Zellwegger. this is the first movie I've seen her in and I've been in love with her ever since. In this movie not only is her acting terrific but her wardrobe consists only of tank tops and little cut-off shorts. She may have the best legs in hollywood.

River's Edge (1986)

excellent movie

this is a terrific film with a terrific cast. It's about friendship, loyalty, and moral resonsibility. when their friend jon kills his girlfriend and comes to school bragging about it, his group of friends must decide which is more important, protecting their friend or turning him in. young keanu reeves is very good as the stoner matt who struggles to comprehend what has just happened, and crispen glover of back to future fame is hysterical as the speeded-out blaine who vows to protect jon at all costs. Thsi was based a true story and is well worth checking out. this film also features dennis hopper as an on the run biker, he and reeves would later team up for speed.

Doppelganger (1993)

You have to start somewhere to try and outgrow that little girl image, why not in an adult horror flick. Drew Barrymore made this not long after poison ivy and in this one she goes a step further towards adulthood by playing a good girl who's being stalked by a slutty, murderous double of herself. Is it a great movie? no. Does it entertain? yes. Plus drew is nude. b-movie classic.
