Lost (2004)
Mr Eko is a heretic
It's dangerous to listen to what he has to say without good knowledge of the Bible. He says that the dove ascending on Jesus cleansed Him from sin! If Jesus had any sin we would all be doomed because we need His righteousness to save us. God has no sin in him. There is no darkness in him. Regular people know this and Mr. Eko is meant to be a priest. Terrible. It's not the only lie he said and he keeps mixing biblical stories with lies. If i was making a movie with a priest in it, i would consult a real one to just fact check the lines. They had the money and there's plenty of christians who would be happy to do that. Very poor on the part of production (or writer. Or both).
Waco: American Apocalypse (2023)
They missed big time
I find it strange that people in the show expressed admiration for the brainwashing system they were in and how it wasn't addressed. It is univerally known that relations with minors are immoral and illegal and there was nothing wrong with wanting to arrest a man who committed such acts. I wish they would have made it clear. From what i saw however it seems to me that they are making it seem like it was ok, like they should have left them alone, left Koresh to continue to harm children because they were happy in their twisted circle. The abused often still love their abuser but that doesn't make it ok. They failed to make that clear and that's why this show brings more harm than good.
The Tracey Fragments (2007)
Masterpiece
People say this looks low budget but i don't see it. It's perfect for what it's meant to be. The fragments are a depiction of the mind. This movie potrays a girl who is lost, bullied, makes mistakes then tries to fix things. As she walks into the blizzard in nothing but a shower curtain we can feel her desperation to find her brother, the lost hope in her nonchalant expression and her feeling of existential dread as she knowingly walks into what we know might end her. This is the pain of guilt and loneliness and not knowing what to do. And your mind racing in hundreds of memories. This is life.
The Russian Bride (2018)
Light horror flick. I loved it.
It may not be produced as well as some great movies out there like Pirates of the Caribbean or Kill Bill but it's fun and thrilling and perfect for what it was meant to be. I think its a perfect film for halloween if you don't really want to watch anything too scary.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
I have no idea why people didn't like this movie.
At the beginning I was very critical, thinking that the costumes are a bit too clean, too cliché and the sugarplum fairy is acting absolutely fake and wondered why in the world my favourite actress would interpret a character this way or if it was the director's idea. Then plot twist- she was acting fake because she's the villain! I should have seen that coming but I guess most kids won't either. And the realms aren't all perfect, I loved the feel of the 4th realm and the contrast of them. And I just love the lesson of sticking together as a family in awful times like going through grief. Overall I just think it was such a visually stunning movie and that ballet scene at the end was just lovely. If I have kids, this will be one of the first movies I will show them.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again (2020)
There is no comedy or drama
There is no action, this movie should just be labelled family and maybe romance. There was not one line that was funny. It was horrendous. So boring. All they do is talk very politely with their fake accents.
The Curse of Sleeping Beauty (2016)
Not for everybody
The movie makes one mistake when they say The Bible and The Qur'an are similar, ask someone who has read both. Otherwise it's pretty good, predictable but visually stunning and pleasant to watch with some creepy moments and jump scares. The acting is good and realistic, I loved it. Just because it doesn't have twists doesn't mean it's boring, i think this is a good addition to a Halloween movie marathon.
Left Behind (2014)
Accurate and scary
This review contains spoiler, read if you've already seen it. You have to know the biblical account of the end of the world to fully appreciate this movie. After the people disappear, the rest are doomed. There is no hope for them no matter how much they achieve throughout the film, because the ones (according to the bible) who were to be saved have already been taken to heaven. The fact that this may truly be the future of mankind and the futility of the success at the end make this worse than any horror film to me and I cry every time, especially when the main girl climbs up to the top of the bridge, as I can relate to her feelings of fear and not being able to go on just waiting for certain death. There isn't really an ending to this, but the reason for it, I think, is because the ending would simply be them trying to survive until they die and go to hell. One could argue that they should have shown us the broken seals and catastrophes that are meant to happen in the last days, but that would be a different film. this film may not necessarily deserve a 10 but it certainly deserves better than 3.1
