Vortex (2021)

A Must See

An amazing experience. A movie which is full of emotinal intensity. Gaspar Noe tells a heartbreaking story with a very original and clever style. Definitely worth a watch. Some viewer may have hard time to get in the movie. But it kept me interested all the way from beginning to end. I can already sense that it will become a cult movie.

The Sadness (2021)

Amazing gore but weak on script

The introductory part of the film is weak and not enough information is given to us to get to know the characters. Things are happening fast. There are problems with the script in general, and there are also some problems with the flow of the film. There are several unexplained parts in the film. How does one of them spread the virus?.. The make-up is quite successful, but when gore is used a lot, it doesn't seem very disturbing and impressive to the viewer after a while. The acting of the leading girl and the boy is not good enough and they cannot come to the fore. The pervert on the subway is the most prominent character in my opinion. In general, it's a movie that can be called good, but it didn't meet my expectations, I was expecting something different.

Rimini (2022)

Worth a watch

This movie is a comedy with some drama in it. Overall the cinematography is nice. Acting is great. Our main character Richie is very well-written and is very fun to watch. The movie could have been shorter. It could be easily 90 minutes. Because sometimes the movie repeats itself. But it is worth watching and it is very interesting at some points.

Reflection (2021)

Atmospheric

The movie has long and still sequences. There are only four or five scenes which the camera moves. Cinematography and mise en scene are eye catching. But I think story has got some weak points. The first half is about the Surgeon getting kidnapped. The second half feels like a different story. But overall it is worth a watch.

In the Shadows (2020)

A Honest Review

This was a dissapointing watch for me. This could have been so better. So overall it feels like a short film which attempts to extend its runtime. The shaky camera movement makes the movie annoying and distracting. We have no idea about who the main character is and we are not aware of his surroundings. There is very little dialogue and they are boring and uninteresting. The element of tension is insufficient. It was very hard for me to connect with the main character. The ending was nicely done and strengthened the message given.

Matango (1963)

Nothing exciting

This one is a solid movie with not much going on. Nothing really exciting is happening. There isn't horror. There are somme illogical moments and because of that I couldn't really took the movie serious.

Voodoo (2007)

Interesting, worth a watch

Even though it says horror for this film the drama and crime part of the film outweighs a little. There are some gory scenes which are not really that disturbing. The story was going fine until the very end. The weirdness at the last scene and unnecessary twist at the end -which it was so illogical- made the movie bad all of a sudden. But overall i think this movie is interesting and worth seeing.

Memoria (I) (2021)

Definitely not for everyone

This movie is very hard to watch and requires much patience. If you can connect with the movie, it will make it easier to watch. There are very long and still sequences. From the beginning to the end of the film, confusion prevails. We cant really understand what is happening. Nothing is clear. And the movie does not give us many answers. This is a "feel" movie. If you cant connect with the characters or the storyline it will be a disappointing experience for you.

Wild Roots (2021)

Fascinating movie with great performances by main characters

I saw this movie at Bogazici Film Festival in Istanbul. This movie portrays the relationship between a rough man who is trying his best to act like a dad and his daughter. The film records the feelings in the most successful way. Also its so well shot. Cinematography is great. And there were some instense moments that almost made me cry.

Girl with No Mouth (2019)

A great post-apocalyptic kids tale

I watched the movie in IF Istanbul. First of all director Can Evrenol sets up a great post apocalyptic world despite its low budget. The acting is decent. If you are bored of usual post-apocalyptic movies you may find this interesting.
