Reviews
Expend4bles (2023)
It is what it is
I read a lot of reviews on here and almost didn't watch it. I'm actually glad I did.
First of all, most reviews from a 1 rating to 7 rating I would say are pretty accurate.
Bad CGI.
No award winning acting.
Slightly bland story.
To me the worst injustice to this movie is putting Mike Moeller in the movie and not giving him an actual fight scene. Mike is a very talented fighter and should have been given the opportunity to show off his skills.
For those who have it a 1 star and claimed to walk away early, I understand. The movie starts off slow and lame. But it does get better.
It's an Expendable movie. It's know for its action.
This does have its share of action.
Megan Fox I guess is only in the show to provide eye candy. Not a lot of talent.
It is also weird to see all the guys looking like they are ready to go into battle dressed in tactical gear and the only two girls look like they are ready to go clubbing.
In the Expendable 3, Ronda Rousey dressed like one of the guys. It was much easier to take her seriously in the movie. Megan Fox looks like she is at risk of breaking a nail.
Jason, Tony, and Iko really picks up a lot of slack.
Some of the scenes are overly sexualized and not really needed but all in all it is still a fun movie.
Assassin's Creed (2016)
Love the movie
I really enjoyed this movie.
I think that bad ratings is because too many people went into this expecting to see familiar game characters like Ezio.
Assassin Creed has its own universe.
There are comics and novels and short little videos online with various different stories that all tie in to each other in some form.
The movie had all the elements to give you that feeling it is an Assassin Creed movie and not just some random action movie.
It has the fighting, the parkour, the animus, and the rivalry between the Assassins and the Templars. It even has the leap of faith.
You definitely get the feeling you are in the AC universe.
I was really hoping there would have been a second movie. Unfortunately that will never happen now. I think they could have really gave this movie a huge boost if they made a game at the same time with a focus on Aguilar. This would have given the hardcore gamers something familiar to latch onto.
Pine Gap (2018)
Really?
Pretty much agree with most of the reviews that give this a one star.
Considering this was released in 2018 I think it is safe to assume that the overly exaggerated United States president is modeled off of the only president we had that did not start any new wars.
The so called progressive left propaganda would be humorous and entertaining if it at least had a good story.
So much technical parts are so wrong which is mentioned in other reviews.
For those that mentioned the predominately American accents, they did mention it early on the Pine Gap is a joint Australia and American facility.
I have been to Australia and there are quite a few different accents. I would not take a star away for that.
However, the premise of the movie to me is to hate on America while trying to paint China a victim and Australia the heroes.
It amazes me how many countries hate America but also rely on American tax dollars whenever they experience disasters.
Any movie that hates on America will never receive more than one star from me.
I do rate all the reviews that gave this movie one star, 10 stars. :)
The Untold History of the United States (2012)
There is a reason why this is the Untold History of the United States
I personally admire the people who gave this one star and managed to make it past the second episode.
I will admit that I skipped to the episode about Reagan.
As soon as I heard right winger I knew this was going to be someone's own interpretation of history ignoring every other facts and evidence to push an America hating agenda.
In America you have a lot of rights and freedoms. Even this false documentary is technically cover under our rights.
With our rights there are responsibilities and making up a lie because you hate a particular group of people is totally dishonest and Stone should be ashamed of himself.
What I don't understand is if America is so bad and there are other countries that are better, why don't these people who hate America leave.
We can make room for immigrants who want to be here.
Dirt (2018)
If you like motorcross, it's ok
The show fall short on acting and dialogue.
When there is racing, the show is ok.
When there is talking, it feels forced.
The acting is week sorta like watching a high school play.
The plot seems like Cobra Kai on dirt bikes.
The drama doesn't feel very dramatic and the teen romance appears very awkward.
The race scenes have potential but with all the arrogance of the characters I would expect more.
Imagine a movie about gymnast and the only big moves is a simple back flip.
With everyone thinking they are the best, their riding skills say differently.
Aside from a couple wheelies and some small jumps, not much else to make you feel that excitement of motorcross racing.
Sniper: Rogue Mission (2022)
The creators know nothing about snipers.
To keep this short, it is an addition to the other one star reviews.
Aside from generic plot and bad action scenes, the basic technical part of snipers is ignored.
I love watching sniper movies and documentaries on snipers. The biggest thing a sniper never does is stick the barrel out of a window.
Every good sniper movie has the sniper well inside the room. You would never spot them until it was too late.
There is even a scene where they are in a room with a bunch of weapons preparing for their mission and the sniper adjust his scope in the room. What reference point was he adjusting to?
Usually a sniper would use some tool like a anemometer to measure wind speed. If you know the wind peed and distance you can fairly accurately adjust the scope accordingly.
The girl flipping the balisong knife, why?
Just to have the visual of a girl who can flip a knife.
Unnecessary theatrics.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)
Another movie where the writers ignores the original movies and the comics.
I have read so many reviews from people who gave this movie one star and I can honestly say I agree with them.
I'm so tired of Hollywood being so intent on equity that they won't even let a white man play a white male character. They had to get a black guy to play a Japanese character and an old woman to play the leader of the clan which in all others stories have been a male. This whole movie is set in a culture that is buried in traditions and the writers chose to ignore it.
As the saying goes, go woke go broke.
The other issues...
Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow met when they were kids. They were raised as brothers.
Snake Eyes never took a vow of silence, he lost his voice in a helicopter accident. It was also the reason he always wore a mask. To hide the scars.
In the comics this happened when Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes were in Vietnam.
If the writers wanted to make it more modernized then they could have set this scene in Desert Storm.
In the comics Scarlet and Snake Eyes were lovers. What made it special was Scarlet never knew what Snake Eyes looked like until years later. Even the movies portrayed them as more like brother and sister because it was more important to show interracial relationships then the beauty of loving someone beyond looks.
Just for the record, interracial relationships has been apart of American culture for decades.
There is no real link to the comics, movies, or even the cartoon.
This movie is all over the place.
The dialog is week and the acting seems like no one really wanted to be there.
I watched this with very low expectations because of previous reviews. I decided to give it a shot because I figured the fighting would at least be entertaining. To be fair it was not all bad, but most of it seems looked like there was little practice before actually filming the fights.
If you want a good Ninja movie watch Ninja Assassin.
This movie made things more difficult then necessary and least interesting.
This was a missed opportunity to make something amazing but apparently nobody involved thought it was worth research.
I felt it was not worth more then one star.
Joker (2019)
Horribly politically driven
I am not sure of the point of this movie.
Was there supposed to be a lesson here.
Here is what I saw.
Capitalism bad. Mean businesses men on a train picking on a mentally disabled man.
Is this really a common issue today.
Have a lot of people ridden on public transportation and been bullied by Wall Street business men.
People in the movie where cheering on a man who murdered three business men.
The rioting in the streets may me think "Clown Lives Matter".
Bruce father from what I seen in other movies was a man respected by his community, loving father, devoted husband. In this movie he is a bully who had a secret affair with a woman who happened to have her own mental issues.
It was like trying to force a justification for murdering Bruce's parents.
This movie basically looked like a promo for Antifa.
Join the resistance
Take on the corporate bullies
I may have found some value in this as a movie that shows someone else's perspective of our society, but it was over hyped and my expectations where very huge.
I'm tired of being lectured by Hollywood.
I'm surprised they did not change Bruce's father's name to Donald Wayne.
