Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
Better Than I thought It was gonna be
**********CONTAINS SPOILERS*************
Ive been waiting years to see this and have heard tons of rumors and script changes, cast changes etc but with all of that, the movie still turned out pretty good. now, like most horror movies, theres tons of flaws but they dont really matter in this one. It was very well acted, well produced and well made. if they made it a little longer and focused more on story it would of been EVEN better. the original script had the survivng members of the elm street movies (Alice, etc) and of the friday the 13th movies(Tommy Jarvis, etc) but for some odd reason they didnt do that. also in the first Draft, nancy was supppose to have a cameo in it but that also fell through. regardless this is still very entertaining and watchable. The plot is about Freddy wanting to come back to reign terror once again on the kids on elm street but since the town has made sure he is forgoten he cant come back unless fear is brought into the teens so he resurrects Jason to do a few killings in order to make him stronger but it ends up backfireing and he cant control jason so freddy has to fight him and send him back to hell and destroy him once and for all. while all of this is going on, the typical teens get involved and have to stop them both as well. very good camera work, great gore effects and visuals. I would have enjoyed it more if most of the people in my theatre wouldnt of kept yelling and talking and iterupting and being rude. other than that, its a must see. I especially liked the opening and the montage to the nightmare movies. a must see. 7/10 stars.
Dead & Buried (1981)
Creepy, Mysterious and shocking
Ive actully been waiting a long time to see this and I just got the limited edition 2 disc dvd. Ive heard great reviews from this movie on how great and scary this movie was and it was! the ending was a total shocking twist ending. it was very well written and extreamly well done and thought of. it doesnt get much scarier and mysterious then this plus the mood of the whole movie was very gloomy and dark, the score is soo eerrie and wonderful it gives me goosebumps just hearing it. the movie is about A Sherrif (James Farrentino of "The Final Count down") Who begins to investigate a series of sudden deaths which turn out to be murder of several out of towners with the towns local and mysterious mortician (Jack Albertson of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory", "The possiden adventure", and the TV sit com "Chico and the man") The Sherrif soon finds out the mysteries secrets and strange going on's at the quiet costal town of "Potters Bluff: A New Way Of Life". with a shocking twist ending yall will never guess that will keep you on your seat. a nice little find and worth every penny.
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Finally a True Horror Movie
I havent seen a horror movie, a true horror movie this good in quite a long time. it was cheesy, scary, funny and quite graphic. i was quite scared and truly felt for these people being tortured. rob zombie did quite an excelent job directing this movie. one of the scariest ive seen in awhile and quite distrubing, but it did remind me alot of The Texas Chainsaw massacare. but thats okay to. the ending was predictable but it fit. a true horror movie ending. but it wouldnt surprise me if there truley were familes like this out there in the backwoods somewhere. probably where alot of the unsolved murder cases happened.
After Death (Oltre la morte) (1989)
what was this movie suppose to do?
okay im all for the zombie movies. both George A. Romero and Lucio fulci zombie movies are great but when someone else tries to venture off on there own and do there own zombie movie trying to be like them is when things get bad. like this movie. it looks good but has the worst acting ive ever seen, the plot is just a reason to have zombies kill people no real characters and an ending that will make you go "what the f***?" absoulty horrible. totally dissapointing. ill stick with fulci and romero. this is the pits.
Bleed (2002)
could have been better
Well I knew this was going to be one of those b horror movies but i love horror and didnt care. since i work for a video store i got it for free. Well it looks pretty good and it has a good build up. the Whole "murder club" thing was quite good and could have done more with that.
**SPOLIERS**
Well you find out there was no murder club, (my first let down) two characters die you dont know anything about (was quite confused) The ending sucked (what happend to maddie when she was in the trunk) and your hero dies!! and the bad guy lives! WTF?? this had a good premise and a great story then they have to go mess with it. Debbie Rochon sure can act and she is soo good in this movie. you really feel for her. she needs to stop doing these stupid made for video movies and do more mainstream stuff. shes quite good. could have been better but with these kinda movies, you really dont expect much from them. nice cameo by Brinke Stevens and Lloyd kaufman as Debbies parents.
Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
What the Heck was Jamie Lee Curtis Thinking?
First off, I would like to say that I am a huge huge fan of the Halloween series and of horror movies, and most importantly, of Jamie Lee Curtis. and when I first heard about the new Halloween movie and she was going to be in it, I Was VERY VERY happy and excited. But After I Saw the film today, I am NOT very happy or pleased at all. The Film was scary in some parts and looked good (cinematography was good, great direction) But It has another terrible ending,
**WARNING SPOILERS**
Jamie Lee Gets killed at the very beginning, all the main characters die and michael is still alive, and plus there was a sub plot that never got resolved, involving one of the lead girls and another guy she met online but never met in person. I must say i am very very unhappy and very dissapointed at dimension films and at the writers and director for doing something sooo dissapointing and killing off The Original horror movie Herione. shes survived this long, why kill her now?? it makes no sense. and For Jamie Lee Curtis her self to have had let this happen after she has said in many interviews that Laurie Strode Was her Favorite character until she did "True Lies", is just unbeleivible. i my self have met Jamie and she was the best but now ive lost some respect for her because of this. But The movie was scary and entertaining and interesting despite these short coming. i mean, its not as bad as some of the other sequels to halloween so ill give it that much. i may be unhappy but im still an optimist and must be fair. If you want to go to see a horror movie for pure entertainment and not story or care about charcters or anything then youll enjoy this, otherwise you will be heavily dissapointed.
** 1/2 out of ****
Clue (1985)
The best Murder Mystery/Comedy ever!
I must say that I have been a huge fan of this movie since it came out in 1985(I was 5yrs old) and it has become one of my all time favorite movies. The scary part is that whenever its on TV no matter what point in the movie, i can start quoting lines by heart! LOL!
This is based on the extreamly popular Parker Brothers Board game of the same name featuring an extreamly talented All Star Cast as the notorious characters. The best part about this movie is that its half serious while being extreamly funny with dry wit and dry humor all the while people are droping like flies. but this is what makes it work.
The plot is Clue is set on the backdrop of the J Edgar hoover/Mcarthy era. The famous 6 characters get invitations for a dinner parter all concering black mail matters from the infamous Mr. Boddy. They all introduce each other, then discuss the blackmail matters then this is when things get interesting. its just something about the talented cast, the terrific direction from Jonathan Lynn and one of the best scenes is the late Madaline Khan Talking about how much she hated Yvette the maid :) A must See. VERY funny, intertaining, silly,Excelent. I am very picky about movies but this one has just always held and kept my intrest as one of my all time favs. enjoy!
Hell Asylum (2002)
Not The exorcist but a great idea
I work at a video store so i was able to rent this before its release date. Anyway I am a HUGE horror movie fan and this is why i rented this. It's not that bad i mean it wont win any awards or anything but it has a pretty cool idea. and you care about the characters. The plot is this cheesy network producer wants to produce this new relality based TV show(sorta like fear factor but with ghost and a $1 million dollar prize) about 5 girls all different spending the night in a haunted asylum and have to do certian task or be eleminated(litterly) there are a few twist and a really creepy unconventional ending. loaded with gore, no nudity which is unusual for a horror movie of this magnitude. while in the house the cheesy producer fakes scary things to boot of the contestants but little does he know theres something more than fake FX and evil out to get them. i give it a 2 1/2 out of 4 Stars i mean its not the best but its not bad either filmed like it is a relatiy based TV show which i think is cool great concept. for die hard horror movie fans B horror movie scream queen Brinke Stevens has a creepy cameo.
Hellgate (1989)
Awful Awful Awful
Okay to start I would like to say I am a huge fan of horror movies other wise i wouldnt have rented this and i must say the cover box was the only good thing about this waste of time piece of crap. Whoever produced this and thought this was going to be a typcial or decent 80's horror flick was SOO wrong. The acting shouldnt of even been called that i mean the zombie extras did much better and I would have to say sadly that Shanghi surprise and Ishtar are Citizen Kane and Gone With The Wind compared to this load of trash i mean the characters are so unlikable and unsympatheic your actually glad they get killed and their own characters dont even really seem to care their friends are being killed which doesnt happen until the end anyway and with a bogous hokey non meaning ending that really didnt explain crap about the whole movie with acting so bad kindergardners would all earn Oscars for best acting in the farmer in the dell then any of these people. VERY poor acting, directing writting, not in the least bit scary gory or interesting. a negitve 2 out of 10 avoid this movie of all cost. i rather see the britney spears movie then this load of crap ever again.
Stolen Memories: Secrets from the Rose Garden (1996)
Mary Tyler Moore's Best Performance ever.
I saw this movie one day when i was bored on the family channel. ive always loved mary tyler moore and i didnt know about this movie. well after i saw it i was very impressed with all of the actors including mary tyler moore. probably her best performance ever.
Anyway the movie is about a boy who is visiting his aunts in a deep southern town for the summer. when he gets there he meets his aunts Earline(Linda lavin) Sally Ann(Shirley Knight) and Jessica(Mary Tyler Moore). Now Jessica is "slow" and is somewhat retarded and need alot of special help she is in her 50's but acts like a child. Freddie(the boy played wonderfully by Nathan Watt) takes a fancy to Jessica and trys to help her. he finds out there was a dark secret and it parralized jessica permantly some 40 years earlier. old ghost and skelletons get draged out while earline and sally ann are trying to "over protect" Jessica Freddie is trying to help her and help her over come her fears and find out what the seceret was and who was keeping it. a very well produced made for TV movie and wonderfull sothern locations. try and see if its on video somewhere.
The St. Francisville Experiment (2000)
Real Scary ****!!
I Read the previous review on this movie but i still wanted to see it cause i was a huge horror movie buff and the person who wrote it obviously doesnt have an open mind to the supernatural or believes in ghost or documentaries. This was NOT a staged account or anything less it was a real account of a real haunting in a house in St. Francisville. The movie is a documentary of a group of 4 people to spend the night in a haunted house in New Orleans. The First half is of interviews and of a back round of the house concerning slavery and brutal experiments this one lady performed on slaves.
one One of them a psychic, one of them a ghost hunter, one of them a historian, and one of them a film maker. They start the night by checking out the first floor, setting up camp, cleansing them selves and putting positive energy on them to protect them selves. then they proceed to investigate by checking rooms and trying to contact the spirits. in one room they find a doll wraped up in mummy wrappings. a doctors kit with blood on the knife, then a ghost throws a chair(no wires guys) in the attic. They then proceed to have a seance to find out who the ghost is. they contact this one ghost named Charles who is supposily good. then they proceed to separate(all of them petrified)to clean the house in separate rooms while chanting a saying to cleans the house. as they do this, shackels fall from the chimney, you get to see real ghost, doors closing, alot of real scary stuff im not going to ruin it for you but see this movie if your a ghost nut or beleive in ghost. watch this late at night and be scared its great fun and its real.
