WHY ARE YOU STILL MAKING THOSE ?!!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SHOW... I mean.. i don't know where to begin There are so many layers of (bad) here.

First, Let's Start With GLORIFYING BAD TRADITIONAL SOCIAL PRACTISES.. The series clearly show how arranged marriage is unfair for all parties involved.

One particular scene that stuck up with me, is the women bathhouse scene, where the older sister showcases her body to the groom's aunt as if this marriage was some sort of modern s.ex slavery..!

The series also glorifies traditional figures of authority represented in (Aga) character, despite him being the most toxic, narcissist and out-of-touch human being!!

However, we all know that eventually the male lead will fall for the little sister, and they will end up having a great love story. Thus, somehow, redeeming this whole messed up arrangment, and showcasing its value and righteousness in compariaion to the degenerate and frowned upon modern lifestyles...

SECOND, SOOO MANY UNNECESSARY FILLERS..!! Scenes with the house's servants discussing their employers lives.. Scenes where characters telling each others that they need to meet, or that they're coming to dinner in a bit.. It almost feels like you're sitting with this family observing every little detail of their unimportant daily routine. This should NOT be done in a well-thought, well planned series that values its audience time..!!!

THIRD AND LAST, THE SERIES OVERHIGHLIGHTS CERTAIN MOMENTS THAT ARE COMPLETELY WORTHLESS DRAMATICALLY !!..such as the girls being yelled at by their father when they were kids, as if this was the most traumatizing experience ever. This scene was played in slow motion, with sad music, and caused the character in present time to freak out... However, at the same time, the series glances over moments that would actually be devestating to any normal person!! Like the bathhouse scene I mentioned before.

So yeah.. that sums it up.

DON'T WATCH THIS SHOW 🙃

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)

I'm a horror fan but this wasn't for me

I absolutely LOVE Del Toro style and his other works.

And in this show, I loved the cinematography, the color palette, as well as the overall atmosphere of the show.

The music was excellent too.

But the stories were SOOO BAD.. chararchters were mostly unlikeable.

The plot's was linear, flat and lacked any depth.

And ofcourse, the endings were CLICHES and VERY UNSATISFYING..

The third and fourth stories for me were the best of the worst. They are the reason for this 5 stars rating.

Some episdes were too graphic.

And I hardly finished the last two because the whole show felt like a waste of time.

I loved the documentry like everyone else, I thought it was moving, interesting and all.

However, I didn't like the way the producers presented Eddie's father's charecter at the end of the film as somehow the reason for his suicide.. I know they tried to brush the idea off by having David state that it was not the father's fault, but it was too late by then since they had already spent 10 minutes trying to link the strict upbringing he recieved with his mental illness.

It was abvious by that point that all of these kids had a history of mental illness even though they all had different household. It might be hereditary or something, sure a tough parenting can make it worse.. but no family member or a friend should fall into the rabbit hole of self-blame because of an unfortunate event.. And I really hated how they somehow obtained a confession out of that old -possibly lonely- man that this might be his fault..
