Why Did I Get Married? (2007)
Shame to the People who rated this and did not watch it!
This movie surprised me, because I had seen all the other Tyler Perry productions and was not impressed. I just saw this new film four hours ago, and frankly, I was blown away. The comedic, yet dramatic, performances by the actors was quite impressive. Not only was the acting good, but the editing and plot of the film were well thought out, unlike most of the films this year were. The film wasn't too heavy, and it wasn't too light - a problem that most Tyler Perry's films have.
This film reminds me of when one shoots for the stars and then lands on clouds. While other films this year shot for the clouds and landed much lower. This movie was a millimeter under flawless, and I presume that it will be getting many awards this year.
I encourage others to go and watch this film; you won't regret it. Your stereotypes of films will almost cease to exist as soon as you watch this film.
High School Musical 2 (2007)
They should call it Stank High Musical Two
I admit I wasn't blown away by High School Musical 2's stankocity, especially since they stole the plot from and summer special of Saved by the Bell, (and a word of advice to the writer and producers of HSM2: DON'T GET PLOT IDEAS FROM SUGAR-CRAZED CHILDREN!!!).
I was severely disappointed though with the musical score which was jaw-droppingly awful. It was too Britney Spears meats Justin Timberlake. And that's okay, but not in a musical that's suppost to be realistic.
And another thing! The only reason High School Musical was such a hit was because it wasn't like a real Broadway musical where they sing to each other and it's so corny. It was more of teenagers who like to perform teenagers. But HSM2 was like a basic whiny musical, except most whiny musicals have good acting and dialog.
Also they should not have given Zac Efron his own songs to sing this time. Because frankly, he is a choir boy singer. he has a nice voice when he is singing those remedial notes, but give him some actual soaring notes and he will croak like a frog because he does not posses the range. Of course it sounded like he did in the first movie, (only because they morphed his voice with Andrew Seeley, a very accomplished singer), but then the producer let Zac sing on his own and all the songs were low key because Zac can't hit any good notes.
The plot was jacked and stupid and pointless. THe ending was horrific at best. THere was only one good song in the movie and it was too depressing for me to even enjoy.
In the end i believe it would have been best to just have a High School Musical Christmas special than this complete-waste-of-a-time sequel. I give this movie one star since it is not possible to give it none.
The Covenant (2006)
Screenplay writer must have went on lunch break
I knew, before watching it, that the movie wouldn't be a masterpiece or anything like that. But i got excited since i am a fan of Steven Strait and all the cool supernatural stuff. Recently, these past few years, the endings of these new movies tend to you know... suck. The beginning of covenant caught my eye, and it gave me a shimmer of hope that it would be worth watching. But after fifty minutes, when it was about time for the film to finish, it crashed and burned like a high-jacked plane.
First, they totally rushed it for no apparent reason. And then at the climax the screenplay writer scribbled in some gibberish for the hero and villain. The whole barn scene where the main character Steven, takes on the villain guy was total trash. The whole time i watched my mouth was half open, because i could not believe the dialog. Chase, the bad guy, had such corny and stupid dialog that it made me tear up,(not because it was so bad, but because that scene was pretty much him waving his acting career goodbye,). I just really hope he knows how to flip burgers, cuz if he doesn't and the director chooses not to come out with a sequel, he is going to be living off of roman soup for a very long time...
Lucklily I am a girl and hot guys in the shower is entertaining to me. As usual i fell in love with every Ispwitch brother,(except the corny villain of course). But because there were not only females in at the premier of this movie, i am pretty there were many dry coughs in the audiences that night. Anyways, strangely i enjoyed watching this movie, and if by some insane miracle they do another movie, they will get a new screenplay writer who doesn't take as many lunch breaks
The Good Son (1993)
A strangely satisfying Thriller!
This movie took me by surprise. At first I thought this movie was going to be a total snore like most melodramas are. But with the help of exceptional good acting and a non-rushed plot, this movie ended up being a satisfying picture with thrills and chills!
Elijah Wood, who is a natural performer, definitely contributed to the suspense; And Mr. Culkin , had me almost peeing in my pants with his delightfully creepy performance. I give this movie two high thumbs up! I only wish that the movie last a tiny bit longer, or maybe i just got so into the flick that time seemed to pass by very quickly. And warning, it's best to watch this movie at night, because if you watch it during the day, it'll give you the feeling like you are being watched. Just kidding, (or am I?)
