The Babadook (2014)
Boring Garbage
If you're looking for a thrilling ride, this movie is not it. Don't believe the high ratings and positive reviews. No jump scares, no horror, no decent storyline, no believable chemistry between any characters. More of a comedy, if you ask me. No empathy for the main characters either. So plain and banal. This film is just a load of nonsense that leaves you empty at the end, and forgettable after about five minutes, if that. So many clichès as well, it's ridiculous. Find something else if you can, trust me!!
All I did was laugh and yawn the whole movie. Major waste of time. Oh, and, poor dog.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
The Best of the Series
For those who were alive and conscious when this film came out, know how special it was. Now, in 2023, with the new film coming out and them already having visited space in F9 (lmfao), this one becomes even more of a treasure simply because it is REALISTIC. The heart, the story, the characters, the plot twist - we actually related to all those things and felt for the characters. The films after that are contrived and superficial.
This is where it all began and this is where the heart of the series will always remain. To the younger audience it may seem corny and of poor quality compared to the CGI used in the subsequent films, but what's grounding here is that most action/car blow ups/car wreck scenes are real, and it takes a true film buff to appreciate that.
This movie is more than just an action flick, it is the birth of a family that Dom always talks about. It's nostalgic. It's heroic. It's a gem.
Signs (2002)
Anti-Alien Propaganda
Besides the major plot holes that many have already mentioned, films like these brainwash the world into believing that aliens (if they exist) are hostile in their nature and we must be afraid and do everything to destroy them first. If they do visit, I won't be surprised at the hostility on our part - it's what we're now programmed to do, even if they come in peace. There have been many movies like this both before and after this one, though 'Signs' also decided to offend the aliens' intelligence, *facepalm*.
Oh and the religious part...
The film Contact (1997), for example, showed us that aliens are intelligent and non-invasive and far ahead of us in terms of technology, and it's the religious fanatics that are stopping us from progress. That plot was much more believable. This nonsense of a film is just an insult to both religion and extraterrestrial beings. I'm an agnostic but still felt bad for those who believe, that religion is being exploited in this pretentious flick - and for what purpose at the end?? I would rather re-watch 'Contact' or 'Arrival', thank you very much. The director should have stuck to one of the two plot lines only: either 'finding God again' or 'fighting off intruders from outer space'. The way he mixed them together is an atrocity.
P. S. The only reason I gave this film 3 stars is for the kid actors and the young Joaquin Phoenix. The end.
Ice: Tears of the Gods (2016)
Wow
The episode starts off slow, but escalates near the end when Jake and Freddy have that huge fight in front of everyone. The actors did such a great job, I absolutely love this episode.
Ice: It All Comes to This (2018)
Whyyy was this amazing show cancelled??
This episode was particularly EPIC! However, I still can't believe we'll never find out what happened to Jake, it's such a shame. He nearly dies in the finale of season 1, so I'm not quite sure if they found a way to keep him alive this time. I wish we had an answer. And a third and final season as well would be great. Cancelling a beautiful show like this is just EXTREMELY unfair. Still crying over this.
Ice (2016)
Cam Gigandet is Underrated.
My first ever review on IMDB and I just have to say: This show is REALLY great! It starts out slow, but grows into the drama that you can't stop binge-watching. (This is not a fake review, btw, like others have said about positive reviews, I guess you either love it or hate it. And I love it!)
Cam Gigandet, in particular, really surprised me in this one - he loves playing bad guys/douchebags in general, but in 'Ice' he's different - so real, so mature and a truly great actor; I wish he had more roles like this! All the other actors have done a terrific job as well, especially Judith Shekoni (who reminds me of Uma Thurman because they have similar facial features and gracefulness). It's almost like watching real life and real people and that's what grabbed my attention. One of the best scenes is the escalation between the two brothers at the funeral - the fight scene was hot!! (However, Cam seems to have forgotten all of his fight training from 'Never Back Down'. Lol. JUST KIDDING).
So, all in all, a really great show and Cam deserves a special round of applause for growing as an actor! I have a hard time starting to watch new shows, but this one I don't regret and will be re-watching again in the future for sure. Recommend.
