Masters of the Air (2024)
Kinda disappointed so far up to episode #6
So far I have made it to episode #6 and it really has been going in a direction I did not want it going in. This is a pale comparison to its predecessors. I was looking forward to watching a series about pilots trying to survive from one flight to the next. Not necessarily a series of love stories and dances. It has been very slow to develop the story and I'm concerned by the time it figures out what it wants to be the war will be over. Way too much dialogue without much point. Let's get to the fighting and less people sitting around a table telling stories while the actors just stare off into the distance. Let's hope for a stronger second half of the series.
My Life with the Walter Boys (2023)
Kinda good but a cringe story line
A rich city girl orphaned when her family dies and she moved into an overly diverse family farm that magically represents every needed checkmark.
The show is actually easy to watch but the main plot is a love tryst between brothers and the new family member that has moved in. Kinda like two of the brothers fighting over the possibility of dating your sibling or your half sister. This is overly cringe as the sister decides between the socially awkward silent type or the sporty bad boy that sleeps with anything that moves.
The show rolls on with everything you would expect with an overly dramatic plot which has to cater to each of the characters struggles while the livelihood of the farm is at stake. The main character Jackie is a highlight with the rest of the acting being rather average.
The Creator (2023)
One of the best movies of the year
This was not your typical sci-fi movie. It drew you into the story and made you feel for the characters, (robot or human). It had a believable entry point into a conflict between the war hungry Americans and basically the rest of the world. One side was pro AI and the other blamed them for their demise. The plot has a few superb twists and you get drawn into the conflict not sure which side you should be on. The actor John David was amazing in his performance and made you want him to be successful in his journey to find resolution with his past. (Trying not to spoil) the young girl was perfect in her role. Did not have to say much but was funny, serious and innocent at all the right times.
Great movie. I would highly recommend watching.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Is This Not Real Magic? (2022)
Was this the Wong show?
I just can't with this show. Everything that is remotely interesting in this show seems to center around Wong. I am not even a big Wong fan but at least he is funny in his own way. But then you write in such annoying characters that are so predictable, have no substance or may have developmental issues and it sucks the life out of the show. It does not make sense that you feel stupider by the time you finish the episode because every person in the show seems to be trying to win that prize.
If there was something positive about this episode; I would give it solely to Wong. The amusing part is the show even acknowledges people want to watch him.
You still have time to find a new writing team and reset before the toilet flushes.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: The People vs. Emil Blonsky (2022)
Hold my beer.
My rating for this show has been slowly going up but the writing is just so cringe! I am hopeful that the writing team might still make some sort of effort to create more then one character in the show. So far the only supporting character which is also the most entertaining (probably not their intention) is Dennis Bukowski. He may be the only character that is entertaining and funny. You like him or you hate him but you have to laugh.
There is a lot of work to be done with this show, please never do a twerking scene ever again! Fix the saddest fighting scenes in cinema today. I think they just told her to stand still and her advisories will just run into her and knock themselves out. But most of all fix the flat writing and story line. I may give this series one more episode. It's a shame because i really think if they wanted a lawyer comedy they should have just done a Night Court remake and dropped a character in a pool of food colouring they could not get off. That would have been funny!
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Superhuman Law (2022)
Episode #2 and did miss hulk just bow down to the man
Episode 2 was moderately better then episode #1 but not much happened in the hulk verse. I did appreciate some of the subtle Easter eggs placed in spots helping to determine exactly where in the timeline they are. That being said the most amusing part of this comedy is that every decision ultimately made by miss hulk was the direct result of a male telling her what direction to take. The first episode expressed itself through the ultimate power of the woman and no need for the male assistance, yet this episode abandoned that storyline with fury. Let's just watch to see where this overlying theme goes from this point on.
LOL: Last One Laughing Canada (2022)
Love the forced awkwardness
Really enjoyed the locked room theme. The comedians may not have been laughing but I know I was. Profanity is a must, not sure if this will hit a cable channel but it would be a shame to lose all the $h;t talk.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Best episode yet... but come on!
So this is by far was the best episode yet; fortunate and unfortunately it has nothing to do with Boba Fett which made it that way. This episode had its issues with action scenes being 30 seconds long, and then trapped by insanely long dialogue and video montages. I could not tell if it was good acting of just the trip from the acid Peli Motto must be taking. She was amusing but on the verge of asking for an intervention. It was also cool to see old time alumni Captain Carson Teva come out of retirement for a cameo. But please with an infinite amount of stories and an infinite amount of new character possibilities please make one that is new and fresh.
It appears the Mandalorian may be headed to meet up with old grandpa Boba Fett and his day nurse. We at least know the Mandalorian can take care of an infant so he will be sure to fit right in and take some duties off Bobs Fetts nurse and caretaker.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
The Millennial Slam poetry moped biker gang
This was a very sad show in terms of having high expectations.
The kind heart of gold bounty hunter, his nurse and his rag tag of misfits; The millennial Slam poetry moped biker gang, Populate this episode with sluggish vehicle chases. And if I was not laughing hard enough from how sad that whole few minutes were they even got to fight a lumbering Wookiee straight out of a low budget 70's return of the swamp thing movie. But no worries; No one was hurt in this episode; they all exchanged daisies and hugged it out.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Tough to watch
A top tier character and you put training wheels on him. Good thing you added supporting characters to babysit him. He may be the most ruthless bounty but you gave him a heart of gold and endless compassion.
It's like watching Grandpa get walked down the hall in the hospital while the nurse keeps reminding him to keep the oxygen mask on his face so he does not struggle so much trying to stay upright.
Go make another toy to sell. Every character does not need to be a hero. My only hope is by the end of the season he rules with an iron fist and not a fist full of daisies.
