Peppermint (2018)
Grind house revenge
I am a huge fan of "Grind house" movies meaning good versus evil with good overcoming evil in a violent struggle. I find these movies rather cathartic and entertaining. I also look for a good story line and good cinematography. Peppermint checked all the boxes for me, but not great story line, nor great cinematography. I still enjoyed it.
Stuber (2019)
Dave and Kumail go for a spin
What is the the best team for extreme violence mixed with cynical wisecracking comedy? The answer is Bautista and Nanjinani in the new off beat comedy Stuber. I recommend it, but it's not a kiddy movie.
All About Eve (1950)
Ambition knows no bounds
This movie is superbly acted; a real tour de force. This is the story of long lasting, and new friendships in the theater; and the testing of trust. A must see!
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
Wandering in the Dark
I went with the family to see this movie after hearing Guillermo Del Toro wrote the screenplay. The movie starts off on Halloween night with some promise, but quickly stalls. The viewer must wait until the end for a few scares and action.
A Letter to Three Wives (1949)
R E S P E C T
Linda Darnell gives a command performance as the ambitious Lora Mae. How does she plan to get ahead? The answer is simple demand respect. Enjoy the rest of this movie. Paul Douglas plays a critical, consistent, but understated key role.
Bad Parents (2012)
Hilarious and true to life!!!
If you're a prude this movie is not for you because god forbid any red blooded American housewife behaves like this. This movie takes the sacred world of "soccer mom and dad" and spoofs it using hyperbole. The men are soft, the women are hard, and the coach is well you'll see. I laughed and laughed, as well as compared it to my child's soccer experience.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Lock her up!
As fans of the genre know Annabelle is a possessed doll that if not contained will caused evil spirits to be released. I enjoyed the acting, the story, and pace of the movie.
Chris Stuckmann Movie Reviews: The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Zombie horror with deadpan humor
Enjoy the pace of this movie as everything falls into place and unfolds. We meet all of Centerville as the Sheriff and crew patrol the town. Interesting events begin to happen and you guessed it - Zombies! Things get really crazy after that! Bring your drink and popcorn and don't shut your eyes. Also, be ready to chuckle!
Long Shot (2019)
Long Shot
This movie made the audience laugh from beginning to end, namely due to the comic timing between Theron and Seth. It has well executed physical humor that's above regular vaudeville slapstick, as well as, excellent conversational humor. For those who consider the F-word problematic this movie may not be appropriate for younger viewers.
