Runaway Brain (1995)
Great animation, extremely amusing
AWESOME full fluid animation, amazing character acting, and clever writing.
Doesn't follow the innocent flow of the old Mickeys, but has a great modern edge. awesome! I watch it every chance I get. its the best mickey cartoon ever made. Mickey playing Disney video games! is there anything cuter? maybe him cowering under a striped pillow ;) His innocent charm still radiates through (lobo-tomy lane haha!) Mickeys capture of the monster at the end was an unexpected hilarious addition =3 awesome for old Disney fans that grew up and still love the old characters.
They (2002)
Poor acting, bad effects
The main character, has NO emotions at ALL. shes irritating, and she looks so horribly underweight its one of the only things scary in this movie.
Billys suicide which is this supposed "traumatic event" was so poorly displayed it never registered as being the event to trigger her issues. after saying, not screaming the word "no" he shoots himself, then she gets a terrible slow motion mouth open shaky face shot, then the rest of the café running around while she just stares at his body with the blankest most unfeeling face I have ever seen on someone whose lost a life time friend.
her screams are loud but shrill and are actor screams, feeling nothing like screams of fear or pain.
The special effects are far from special. CG aliens are cut and pasted into scenes with no relationships to the objects around them. they have an unrealistic smooth texture that doesn't match any of the scenes they are in.
I expected much more from a Wes craven movie.
Not Without My Daughter (1991)
its one woman's experience,
I am quite annoyed at some of the reviews. No one talks about the movie just a bunch of people taking it all so personally. I have never Been there but its important to remember that the world changes everyday. If you go to the City portrayed in this movie, today, you will find its a very different place. ALSO, This movie wasn't an open un biased view of a culture. It was the depiction of one woman's experience. It was written to be her very horrible experience. you are to see it through HER eyes.
Thats why when she is locked in a room, you only see out the window, and you only see Moody when he comes by. Thats why when the family looks at her they are whispering about her, and glaring at her. thats what SHE sees. everyone knows that feeling. when people look at you and then you think they are talking about you and wonder what they are saying. then your mind begins to play tricks. those thoughtless glances become glares. People also forget that the movie also portrayed Iranian men and women HELPING Betty get out.
I think Sally field AND Alfred Molina did amazing jobs in this movie. it was a great movie! I recommend it.
