Circle (2015)
Supernatural thriller
I have to admit, I actually saw this a couple of years ago, but it was good enough that I think I want to watch it again. It was very original and a fast-moving psychological thriller. I've recommended this movie to friends many times.
Look Away (2018)
Teen revenge movie
It was like a Mean girls meets Carrie. Somewhat entertaining, but definitely not something I'm raving about to my friends. There was a disturbing father daughter scene that I really wanted to fast forward through. All in all, I'm not sitting here wishing I had that 90 minutes of my life back - it was something to see on a wintery weeknight.
Await Further Instructions (2018)
Had potential, ending kind of sucked
I thought this movie was great and original... right up until the last 10 minutes where it completely fell apart and became absolutely absurd. The suspense and interaction among the characters was great hence the 7 star rating. Thoroughly enjoyable until the last 10 minutes. For that reason, I recommend it.
Terrifier (2016)
Cheesy 80s style horror...in a good way!
I wasn't expecting much, but this clown is awesomely creepy. Sort of a cat and mouse thriller. It gets to the point quite fast and good for some scares if you're in the mood for cheap thrills.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Jim Halpert all grown up!
I loved every part of this movie. Not so much scary as it is suspenseful. I cried like a little bitch towards the end. Don't miss this one. And I feel like those who gave a rating of 5 stars or less were watching a different movie. If you're going to find this type of movie nonsensical or absurd and need to see the logic in everything, then watch something like the Bridges of Madison County and stay away from the horror/thriller genre where killer creatures and zombies are involved
The Vault (2017)
Surprised not rated higher
I thought this was a great little movie. Lots of suspense and scares. Quick moving with a nice twist/reveal at the end. A perfect Netflix and chill for a rainy weekday night.
Gerald's Game (2017)
Well acted, but very slow moving
I watch because it Stephen king, but I could take it or leave it. It's really just an hour of internal dialogue and hallucinations. It was redeemed by some good acting.
Creep (2014)
Loved it! Very Original
I've seen both Creep movies. They're low budget, very few characters, but the main character is a creep and creepy. Wouldn't quite categorize this as horror, although there are some jump scares...more stalker-ish. Highly recommend watching.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Mixed genre mediocrity
I'll never understand why movies put these Scooby Doo type friends together that seem like they have nothing in common with each other. It's seem to be a mix between horror and sci-fi, but not in a good way. Sigourney Weaver must have been desperate for money. Watch if you're curious, but don't go into it expecting a super fantastic film.
The Toolbox Murders (1978)
Deliciously Cheesy 70s Slasher Flick
This was awesomely cheesy. If you're close to 40 or older, you will appreciate this. It will bring you back to that late 70s vibe. Worth a watch If you're into some fun,, nostalgic horror.
The Maze (2010)
Pleasantly surprised it didn't suck
After watching the trailer, I was pretty sure I'd be shutting this off after the first 15 minutes. Horror flicks on Amazon prime are hit or miss, I find. I'm pretty sure the reasonable person could find their way out of a corn maze, but if you can suspend disbelief for 90 minutes, you'll be entertained. There was a twist at the end which I thought tied everything up nicely.
Circus Kane (2017)
Better than most Amazon prime horror
I really don't know what the disgruntled clown and the social media celebrities had to do with one another, but in terms of a group of people going through a house of horrors, it was pretty entertaining. Good if you want and easy to watch horror flick that just get straight to the point.
Me and My Mates vs. The Zombie Apocalypse (2015)
My first 1 Star review
This was just God awful. Definitely no Shaun of the Dead. I don't know if there's an Australian humour that doesn't translate, but I had to turn it off after 50 minutes. There honestly wasn't even anything redeemable enough for it to deserve one star.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
A fun take on the Zombie genre
A definite must see for the zombie lover. Fun and entertaining right to the end. Great when you need to lighten the mood, but don't want to leave the zombie movie genre!
Pet (2016)
Not satisfying
A boring, hard to get through movie about the stereo typical weak male who wants to dominate a woman and make her love him. Other than one suspenseful moment, it was all very boring. Just another horrible movie where I find myself amazed I was able to get to the end without switching it off halfway through.
3 (2017)
Can't believe I watched to the end
I'm usually pretty generous with my reviews. As long as I'm entertained I'm happy. But this movie was quite horrible. Only reason I gave it 2 stars was for about 5 minutes of suspense about 2/3 of the way through. It was poorly acted. At the end I was just really disappointed I wasted about 75 minutes of my life.
The Bad Nun (2018)
Cashing in on the conjuring series, but...
It was slow moving to start and I almost switched it off, but it picked up in the second half. They were totally cashing in on The Nun from the Conjuring series, But if you're into suspense and creepy nuns, it's entertaining. Seems they borrowed a bit from Psycho as well. There was one theme that played throughout the movie that was quite hard to believe, but all in all if you can get through the first half, it's entertaining and has a twist at the end.
What Happened to Monday (2017)
Great dystopian thriller
This was a quick moving action movie with lots of twists. You'll be on the edge of your seat at times. You'll be on the edge of your seat at times. The ending was a surprise, and a bit of a tearjerker (for me). Very original, and there was a good sex scene halfway through. Lots of violence towards the end. A definite must see.
Busanhaeng (2016)
I Laughed, I cried, I was entertained!
I avoided watching this one for the longest time because of the subtitles, but with all the action, there's not a lot of dialogue. You go through an emotional roller coaster. There are some sour tarts, funny parts, some sitting on the edge of your seat parts. An essential for the zombie lover.
