Last Seen Alive (2022)
Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!
Watched the first 15 mins and the main observations:
- it's awful
- Gerard Butler isn't sure what accent he's supposed to have. Have had to Google it.
- how many times can someone shout "Lisa, Lisa, Lisa" during every scene, sometimes mid-conversation even when someone you know/trust is telling you she isn't there?
- GB sounds like Alan Partridge during the "Dan, Dan, Dan" scene (which is comedic by the way). Recommendation: watch Alan Partridge and not this.
The Leftovers: Crazy Whitefella Thinking (2017)
Garbage
Utter guff.
Can't believe anyone is lapping this rubbish up.
First two seasons were good in terms of being able to provide intrigue and curiosity but now it's getting into the realms of stupidity.
Shame as it showed promise early on.
A disappointing way to end my viewing of this series but definitely not worth any more of my time.
Similar to when Lost was around, I expected that there would be no real answers in the end. But that doesn't mean you can turn the whole thing into a joke.
Now You See Me 2 (2016)
Just Awful
Haven't seen the first film, which I see as a blessing having sat through an hour of this installment. Just awful. The whole cast appear to be thoroughly dislikable, arrogant, self-satisfied characters taking part in ridiculously unbelievable situations which seem to go on and on. Even with an open mind or an obsession for fantasy you'd be hard pushed to like this utter rubbish. I'm assuming it's a film for under 10s since I doubt anyone over the age of 10 would enjoy it.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Desperate
Painfully dragged out. Don't expect any answers whatsoever, just pure conjecture. A waste of 4 hours although you do sense that early into episode 2. The actress' voice used for Elisa when reading out the social media posts is incredibly, incredibly irritating. Wouldn't recommend.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Utter, utter, utter, utter pretentious garbage!
I think the headline tells you all that you need to know. Films like this are why a zero star review option should be brought in.
By the end of watching this you'll probably be wondering about ending your own life. Avoid.
The Capture (2019)
How did anyone get past episode 2?
Appallingly bad.
I've read reviews from people saying it started well but the last episode was bad.
I watched two episodes and stopped, so I can only imagine how bad that final episode is.
Don't waste your time - police stereotypes as far as the eye can see and plot lines (and conversations) that would never happen in real life.
Laughable.
The Stranger (2020)
Absolutely Appalling
Terrible script, terrible acting and ridiculous storylines. So bad it was amusing in parts. The more it goes on the worse it gets. Ending is hilarious.
Gold Digger (2019)
So bad it's good!
Update: having watched the final, appalling two episodes since my initial review I've seen sense and taken the rating down from 3/10 to 1/10. Zero was not possible.
==========================================
Have given this 3/10 (and that's very generous) based on the fact my wife and I were kept entertained by how bad this is! So bad in fact that it's weirdly addictive as it just gets worse and worse.
The script is terrible and extremely predictable. If you want to see some clichéd rubbish then definitely give this a go. The main character sums it up best when she says the line "it's all just ridiculous isn't it". Yes Julia, it truly is. Awful.
Wild Wild Country (2018)
Average
The absolute dislikability factor of the main cult characters (and it is a cult!) holds your interest for a while as you look forward to seeing their inevitable demise but other than that there's not much to see here that makes this better than average.
Black Mirror: Smithereens (2019)
Worth watching - best of (a disappointing) series 5
Worth watching even if it is just an obvious reference to Zuckerberg and Facebook which is obvious quite early on (nevertheless a good reference to make). The lead police officer was an awful choice of casting as was the negotiator who seemed to be playing a "court jester" (I sense that maybe both choices were deliberate in some form of ironic way, however that would be too intelligent a decision for me to understand) but other than that it was entertaining, even if you did kind of know what was coming.
Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
Really, really poor
I'm a massive fan of the show but this episode was painfully bad. I couldn't wait for it to end. What a shame that the series ended with this, leaving a bad taste in the mouth.
The storyline was admittedly not the best but it was the acting that stole the show in how bad it was, and that's not only limited to Miley Cyrus.
Avoid.
The Society (2019)
Truly, truly hilarious
Absolutely awful. The premise of the series had legs but I really cannot remember a series that was worse than this in terms of script, direction, execution, casting, acting and enjoyability! However, for anyone on the fence about watching it, all I can say is it's honestly so bad that it's kind of good in a truly hilarious way!
