11M (2022)
Not good to learn about March 11
M11 is full of unanswered questions.
Who was truly behind the attacks? Who assembled the bombs -Chinese and Tunisian gangs were unqualified-? How could a police dog fail to detect 40 kilos of Goma2 in the Kangoo van? How did the bomb disposal unit overlook the backpack from El Pozo that appeared much later in Vallecas? How could it be the only backpack without shrapnel? What was an ETA commando doing with 500 kilos of explosives heading to Madrid and with a map marking the train stations where the attacks occurred? Why did SER repeatedly lied claiming the existence of suicide terrorists in the trains? How is it possible that the samples of explosive analyzed by the forensic police contained components incompatible with Goma 2? And that they became contaminated every time it was proven that Goma 2 did not explode on the trains?
These and many other questions, the true essence of 11M to know what happened, are completely ignored in the documentary.
It's just a simplistic, incomplete, and very deceptive version.
The Final Table: The Finale (2018)
Bitter Finale
Dissapointing finale in an otherwise decent culinary competition. It really does not bring much new to the table than Masterchef and Co. But the contestants made the difference here. As a cook and a foodie, you can actually learn from this people.
I enjoyed the show, but the finale was a disappointment. Not just because the winner played it safe (there is no discussion around it) but the dish itself did not seem anything out of this world.
Clare Smyth (UK) made excellent points. While the contestants were cooking, she said sth like "we take years to perfectionate a dish while these people have just a couple of hours"... well, unless you do something you have been doing for years. During her review she also pointed, "this is something I could have every day" and she finished with the key question "didn't you play it safe?". Timothy humbly admitted it.
Chefs are admired geniuses because of their creativity, their capacity to think out of the box, to work under pressure with the precission of a surgeon... So hard to understand the final decision.
But to me, the real loser was Grant Achaft.
Rooting for his country fellow with such a passion insisting on moot points, so obviously biased, just trying to impose his view, not open to hear anybody else with an open mind or giving others the chance to speak...
You can see how other judges but Vineeth Bathia (India) remained absolutely silent during the discussion (not being English speakers was a clear disadvantage).
I would have loved to hear Helena, Andoni, Yoshiro, Clare or Anne Sophie's thoughts... But probably their silence was more revealing.
Why the decision was not made by voting (secret or show of hands) is another question mark.
Timothy will remain as an unfair winner. Comments and episode rating speak for themselves. Can't be denied. We customers have the final say and that is clear here. So, I don't think they made him a big favor here.
Final Table is a good tasting menu, but its final dish is so bitter and hard to swallow... I don't think I will go get a second serving.
