Masters of the Air: Part Seven (2024)
Grounded..
This is the episode where I finally drew the line and decided the series was not for me.
They really didn't do themselves any favours by pegging this to the Band of Brothers series, which in my opinion was the best WW2 series to be made.
There is a significant lack of character depth. There's no attachment or sentiment for any of the characters portrayed...and after 7 episodes, I still couldn't name more than a few. The production quality is poor in some areas, especially with the excessive use of CGI. For example, in this episode, there seemed to be hundreds of fighter planes flying amongst each other, navigating through bomber formations and was ridiculously in accurate.
I'd recommend that people watch Memphis Belle instead. Considering it was a film made in 1990, it was far more immersive, realistic and had a brilliant storyline.
Cell (2016)
The Walking Dreadful
The Initial 10mins looked promising. After that, it's a colossal waste of time. With names such as Stephen King, Samuel Jackson and John Cusack, I would have assumed that this film had great potential to impress.
However, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a distinct lack of character depth, continuity and logic. It seemed like the storyline was being randomly and poorly pieced together as the film progressed.
I would be intrigued to see how the 'best-seller' book compares to the cinematic interpretation, as I can't imagine the film would have done Stephen King any justice at all.
Terrible film.
War of the Worlds (2019)
Bore of the Worlds ... Don't waste your time.
To be clear, this series has absolutely no relation to HG Wells 'War of the Worlds'
The title draws you into this absolute snooze fest of a series like a Venus fly trap. For some reason I felt encouraged to continue watching the next episode, hoping that something substantial would happen. IT NEVER DID.
Please don't waste your time. Apart from the robotics of Boston Dynamics making an appearance, the series is full of ominous music, unconvincing acting, a lot of depressive moping around, and lacks a complete sense of direction.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
A brilliant series, rushed and ruined for greed.
As with many fans of the Game of Thrones TV series, there was great anticipation of the final episode and how everything would draw to a close. However, dedicated viewers were exposed to 75 minutes of a rushed, anti climatic feature.
The plot could have been drawn out and the show could have benefited greatly from another two seasons. The finale of GOT and a lot of season 8 was erratic and rushed...all for the sake of HBO profits.
I haven't been this dissaponted since the ending of Sopranos.
Salvation (2017)
24 meets Armageddon - A great mini series
Salvation is an enjoyable series to watch!
Characters struggle against a pending apocalyptic event, government corruption, and secret societies.
I've only recently discovered this on Netflix and was very impressed. Episodes last for around 40mins so it can become very binge worthy, but it's worth it!
Salvation deserves an 8/10
IO (2019)
Do you want a film to fall asleep to?
While 'I.O' addresses the important issue of climate change and how this will affect the human race in the near future, it also bores you to sleep.
It's very slow to start with and you find yourself expecting some sort of development that never comes.
If you want to watch a depressive film that involves a lot of moping about, monotone dialogue and unconvincing 'romantic' scenes....go ahead, give it a watch.
The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because it vaguely addresses an important subject matter...and I feel sorry for the actors having to waste their time on this dumpster fire of a film,
