Nowhere (2023)
Worth a watch if you are debating like I was
Absolutely worth a watch and you will be entertained for most of the running time.
All things being equal this was well solo acted, to create the intensity required to make a gripping film is no mean feet (look at the original saw for example) it requires good acting and this was well executed.
The general plot is a little far fetched but you do get behind the character and want her to succeed and there are many moments where you feel her pain.
Immerse yourself in it and head in with low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Worth well more than the 6 currently assigned on here. Tbh I've taken to watching more 6 rated films these days as otherwise we are put off from supporting the se titles and actors, which is a shame.
Voleuses (2023)
7 is a much more accurate rating
This film deserves much more than the current rating, I've seen some pretty poor films over my time around a 5 rating on here and they have been absolutely awful.
Whilst this won't win any awards it will keep you entertained for a couple hours, assuming that is, you don't watch it dubbed. Films should be watched in their native language to get a true grip of the actors and characters, when you flip from English dub to French it's already worth 2 extra stars, which is why I guess some of the other reviews are low.
This film is interesting in terms of the plot, not a typical action film but plenty of action in it. It's more the storytelling round the characters that makes it much more of an all round watch.
I thought all roles were played well and there is no awkward acting throughout, which you'd expect from a mid table movie.
The Covenant (2023)
What a hidden gem
Don't you just love it when you stumble across a hidden gem, certainly doesn't happen much these days since 2020. This is an absolute cracker, especially if you can get up on the big screen and surrounds - the soundtrack / audio and effects are truly awesome.
The film itself is really well written, well casted and executed. The plot keeps you transfixed throughout and just when the first half completes a whole new dimension starts in the second.
Very clever scriptwriting and engaging across the 2 parts. You will not be disappointed with this film, especially if you get the opportunity to watch on the big screen.
Well done Guy Ritchie.
Fall (2022)
A great watch
Despite the simple storyline and a little annoyance at the start with the social media element, just get behind this and you will find yourself immersed in a gripping tale of 2 girls stick up a 2000ft tower.
Not for the faint hearted, especially if you watch on the big screen, as you really do feel the terror of the situation.
A few twists and turns during the film but all very week acted and filmed, it does give you the sense of being there and a reality situation.
Worthy of a much better score than current and definitely won't regret switching it on. Just hold onto the sofa so you don't fall!
Sans répit (2022)
Sorry this is 6 max
This is worthy of more than mid fives but no more than a 6. Whilst it will keep you interested to a point it is one of those films where your mind starts wandering.
The plot is ok, albeit a bit random at times, and the acting is "ok" at best.
The lead actor was excellent, without which this film would have been turned off half way through. Feels like a mish mash of many other semi decent films and plots that come together to produce another middle of the road film.
If you've got nothing better to do then it's worth a watch but don't sit down and waste a weekend night and a load of popcorn on it.
Wednesday (2022)
An excellent watch
Superb acting from all, very well filmed and an interesting plot with both humour, thrills, and the unexpected. Plenty to keep you entertained.
Very rarely do I blitz a series but this one I was intrigued all the way and watched the whole series in 2 days.
I'm not an Adams family fanatic so have nothing to compare or contrast to, but equally, if you're an Adams novice like me don't let it put you off watching as this is super easy to follow from the off. I'm sure I've missed loads of connections to the original but hey, sit back and enjoy 8 eps back to back and it will defo keep you entertained.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Awesome film
Why not like this, acting's decent, cgi great, humour as well - 2 hours of switch of pure enjoyment.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Not seen a film this good in ages
Guy Ritchie back on form, this will sit as a true classic, entertaining from the start to the end with plenty of twists and quality acting along the way.
Arctic (2018)
Gripping
Very well acted given only one person with a script, so much so the film puts you in the situation they are in. Very well done, a great watch
Triple Frontier (2019)
Very well made shoot me up with decent twists
Very watchable from beginning to end, not your usual cheese fest of predictability, kept me very entertained and grip all the way through
