When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story (2017)
Poorly Cast
Let's start with the fact that Falicia Blakely was a dark skinned woman with brown eyes. Casting a light skinned actress was totally f.. up. They also cast a biracial child as her daughter.
This obsession with light skinned women and long weaves is rather f... pathetic and undermines the credibility of the film, according to every image I have seen. Tasha Smith, a brown skinned actress who rarely works probably because of her hue, should know better. There are plenty of struggling dark skinned actresses who could have been cast for this role. A dark skinned black woman can't catch a break ion this industry even when black folks are making the casting decisions.
The acting and writing are okay.

Best I've Ever Seen
The most fascinating and believable war film I have ever seen, and the first to cause me to thoroughly study the political origins and implications of WW1. It's amazing how many people have died for the sake of white men's desire to own the Earth. Yet, they have not learned. In 2022, the US government passed a $858 billion defense bill to remain the top bully in the world. And what have we sacrificed to carry the biggest most lethal arm forces in the world. The US refuses to provide universal healthcare, maternity leave, increase minimum wage, and pay off student debt, an only a few major policies that would move this nation forward.
A Black Lady Sketch Show (2019)
I saw Angela Bassett
I must admit I got excited about this show when I saw Angela Bassett, but I was soon turned off by the boring plots and jokes. I love seeing black women on screen and definitely want to see more, BUT there are far more talented black female writers than Robin Theade, who like Spike Lee, must cast herself in every episode. Thede is simply not funny or innovative. Sorry.

Supplanting Black Women
This movie follows a growing trend of casting bi-racial women as the love interest of leading black men. It's a pathetic and very sick strategy, and black male directors and producers are leading the effort.

Maybe if an actual black woman, you know the kind with some soul and presence and acting chops, was cast as the love interest the movie would have been worth watching.
The only reason the very boring monotone over rated Paula Patton was cast is because she is biracial, which is the norm in the industry. Her performance is as dull as her face and personality.
To make matters worse, both black male actors are cast opposite nonBlack women.
This movie deserves its low rating which is a big fat 0.

Outstanding
Shape-Shifters and Sonnie's Edge were the best. Please make more episodes. Totally exciting.
Night School (2018)
The Degradation of Yvonne Orji
In addition to the usual negative stereotypes of black folks, this film was consistent with the trend of casting bi-racial women as the love interest of the black male lead. In this instance, Hart's character's girlfriend is the very talentless
Megalyn Echikunwoke, whose primary acting experience is voice over for video games. Moreover, it's clear that she would not be working if she were not bi-racial.
A much better choice would have been to cast the lovely, talented, and well-known actress Yvonne Orji of HBO's Insecure as the love interest, but hell will freeze over before a black woman is allowed to star opposite a black male celebrity actor. The director decided to degrade this up and coming actress by making her the side kick of Megalyn's character, a thorn in the side of Hart's character, and the butt of his tasteless jokes . Orju's character was projected as being unnecessarily angry and uptight; in contrast, Megalyn's character was sugar and spice and everything nice.
This movie is trash, and Yvonne Orji should learn to protect her brand.
