Totally Killer (2023)
Some Funny Stuff, but Bad Script
Just a heads up.
The movie starts out pretty good, with some funny parts, but then gets too violent and raunchy. By the ending, it gets pretty dumb.
It's an o.k.. time travel movie. It tries to be a Halloween movie, but that is just the time when everything takes place. Other than that, not much to do with Halloween.
This movie borrows some of the shtick from Back To The Future and Hot Tub Time Machine, and directly references them both.
There was an opportunity for a good film here, but the weakest part was the script. It needed a lot of work.
It's part silly comedy, and part gory slasher film, but is only mildly successful in either genre.
I cannot recommend this film, as most people will not enjoy it much.
Kieran is good as the lead character though.
Blonde (2022)
Some Like It Bad
The one good thing in this film is Ana de Armas.
The supporting cast was also good, particularly, Bobby Carnivale and Adrien Brody.
I was expecting a well told story, but it was not.
Ultimately, they tried too hard to make this film artsy, but it only ruined it.
Does the audience need to see Marilyn barfing into the toilet? I think not.
Many of the scenes are quite graffic, with lots of nudity and some pretty disturbing scenes involving President John F Kennedy.
And it was an hour too long.
Best believe that Marilyn Monroe fans would find this crap fest a huge waste of time.
NOT RECOMENDED.
The Dropout (2022)
Kate McKinnon was first Choice to play Holmes
This is a pretty good mini series.
Kate McKinnon was originally cast as Holmes, however, she had to drop out of The Dropout.
Amanda Seyfried is quite good in this.
I have read some reviewers complain about her voice or that she is too short (what?), but basically, people need to stop using the words"cringe".
It is beginning to sound ...cringe . . .
A Castle for Christmas (2021)
This was a good one
It has Scotland, it has Christmas.
What more could you want?
It makes you want to go to Scotland.
Good role for Brooke Shields, and Carl Elwes is always good.
Good times.🙂👍
What Drives Us (2021)
You Gotta Get In The Van
This film is a must see for fans of rock bands, and aspiring musicians alike. Comments from Slash, St. Vincent, Brian Johnson, the guy from Slayer, Edge, Ben Harper and Ringo.
How cool is that ?
The Woman in the Window (2021)
Very Good Thiller
Really well done film if you are looking for a good thriller.
Excellent perfomances from Amy Adams and Julianne Moore.
Music Score by Elfman is quite good.
Don't miss it.
The Dig (2021)
I Really Dug The Dig
As mentioned on numerous reviews, the acting is quite strong from the entire cast. Directing and Cinematography were also top notch. Films released in the early part of the year normally don't stand a chance come Oscar time, but this movie was so well done. Highly recommended.
Your Honor (2020)
Breaking Bad Ronald
This show may have worked better as a TV Movie of the week. Perhaps like a spiritual remake of the 1974 flick "Bad Ronald". I may watch the rest, but 10 episodes could be a little long.
Also, this show has some extremely graphic and disturbing content.
Ratched (2020)
Really,Really Bad
Couldn't make it through the pilot episode.
Having such a good cast in such a crappy show is mindboggling.
👎😔
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)
Kind of Like a Twilight Zone Episode
There was something Twilight Zone-ish about this movie.
A little different than what the viewer expects.
It's a drama, but it does seem to have fantasy elements going on.
Tom Hanks was pretty good, but he doesn't sound like Mr. Rogers.
Matthew Ryes was really good.
Pavarotti (2019)
Was This Not Eligible for Oscars ?
Surprisingly, it was not on the nomination list for the Oscars this year.
Maybe it was not eligible?
Rod Howard did a great job on this documentary.
Really well told.
Marriage Story (2019)
Acting is Superb !
A real well done character driven movie.
I always figured Scarlett Johanson to be an overrated actress, but she's quite good in this movie - I am really impressed. All other actors are top notch as well.
The other thing was the great casting.
Good movie!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Once Upon A Time . . . In A Dumb Movie
Tarantino has done some good stuff, and Pulp Fiction is a classic, but this movie isn't so good. It is well made, but with a very bad story and pointless violence.
It has most of the typical Tarantinoisms - Lots of cameos of forgotten stars, cool songs, funny characters and dialogue...
Worse than Hateful Eight I'd say. Perhaps the next flick will be his comeback.
The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971)
Christmas Movie Classic
The pilot episode of The Waltons can be considered a major classic, up there with all the biggies - It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Story, White Christmas, and perhaps Die Hard.
Funny to see different cast members not from the TV series.
Great family film for the holidays!
The Best of Enemies (2019)
One of the Best Movies of 2019
From the bonus interviews on the DVD, it seems that quite a bit of the story was true to what actually happened. And it is a pretty amazing story. Very well done, with great acting performances throughout. Could win Oscars.
Greta (2018)
Greta Van Creep
Fairly good film.
It has some good tense scenes, and creepy stuff, but doesn't get too graphic.
It's kind of like an old school thriller - like other's have mentioned, it's on par with Misery or Carrie. A Stephen King type of movie.
Midsommar (2019)
Dumbest Movie of the Year
Very good acting, directing and special effects collapse under the absolute stupidity of the story.... so there's that. And It's a excruciatingly long movie - about an hour too long. Stay away from this one.
Chocolat (2000)
Great Movie with a Great Cast !
Perfectly casted film.
In the audio commentary, the producers mentioned that they ended up getting their first choice for all the roles, which is a rarity in film making.
I really liked it when I saw it at the theatre in 2000, and it still holds up well today.
Chocolat kind of has the same charm that old films have.
From beginning to end, it's very well done.
The Mule (2018)
Breaking Bad, The Good, and the Ugly...
Clint Eastwood never disappoints!
One of his better films in a while.
Based on a New York Times article about a 90-year-old who transported drugs for a Mexican cartel.
The script was written by Nick Schenk who wrote Gran Torino, and I believe this is a better film than Torino.
The casting is perfect - Bradley Cooper, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, Laurence Fishburne.
Apparently real stories like this are more common than people realize
This is one cool Mule.
