On Any Sunday (1971)
On any day of the week!
I don't like motorcycles but I do like this movie! Bruce Brown's ability to wrap a viewer up in a blanket of entertainment is uncanny. He approaches this documentary about motorcycle racing and recreation with a zeal and thoroughness that leaves you wanting more by the film's end. Featuring Steve McQueen, Malcolm Smith and Mert Lawwill - coupled with a snappy and involving music score by Dominic Frontiere (The Outer Limits series), On Any Sunday is sure to please.
Xanadu (1980)
Great fun!
A wonderful escapist movie by which the term ''xanadu'' pertains to the overall context of the film rather then focusing primarily on Gene Kelly's roller disco at the end. With great music by Olivia Newton-John, ELO and The Tubes this becomes a terrific ninety minutes of fun and enchantment for those looking for relaxing entertainment. And you have to admit, it's great seeing Gene Kelly up there dancing on the big screen again.
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)
A great showcase for Don Knotts!
I was eight years old when this movie first came out in theaters. Though I liked Don Knotts from the Andy Griffith show, I hated the title of this film and therefore never went to see it. BIG MISTAKE! It wasn't until years later when The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was shown on some syndicated television station that I realized how much fun I had missed out on. This movie is an ideal showcase for Knott's quirky comedy and remains one of my favorites to this day.
