Winstanley (1975)
Great production of a great philosopher
I first watched this film in an Early Modern European history course and it blew me away. As a film buff it's interesting. It's a lot like a silent film (i.e. Griffith) with all the narrative frames in between each scene. As a socialist I find this film invaluable as a gateway to Winstanley's writings. He was truly a man ahead of his time.
A Life Less Ordinary (1997)
Weakest entry in a magnificent triology
I was really disappointed with this movie. I love Trainspotting and Shallow Grave and this just doesn't match up. Though this isn't to say I didn't enjoy it. Overall a decent movie, too bad it's nothing compared to its predecessors.
SubUrbia (1996)
continuing to affirm linklater as one of 90's greatest dir.
This movie is rather strange but I think it really gets at the basis of modern post-high school life and depression from the eyes of the slacker. I couldn't find any flaws in any of the performances. A good vacant sort of 'character' flick. Big on character development almost nothing on plot.
