Absolutely Hysterical!!!
24 October 2003
As if the first installment of "I Love the '80s" wasn't enough (and it actually wasn't), the geniuses at VH1 have blessed the world with another look back at the best decade ever. This time around, everyone commentates on things that were wrongly omitted from the original, including Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, Glow Worms, and Garbage Pail Kids. Each person featured on this show is extremely funny, but the stand out stars have to be Hal Sparks (he steals this one just like the first "'80s"), Michael Ian Black (also steals it again), and the insane Donal Louge. Honorable mentions to Rich Eisen and Loni Love. This is one hysterical series that's not to be missed. If you have any love for the '80s whatsoever, do yourself a huge favor and devote your week to "I Love the '80s Strikes Back". Because you definitely won't be sorry.

what a waste of time! (((**SPOILERS!**)))
19 September 2003
Warning: Spoilers
(((((***contains SPOILERS!!!!***)))))

I happened to see this film two nights before its debut. Thank goodness I saw it for free!! What a huge disappointment!

From the trailers, this movie looked awesome; suspenseful, scary, creepy...but sadly, in actuality, it was none of these things. Instead, I was subjected to a predictable, slow, and so-bad-it-was-funny, mess of a film. My friends and I called everything that was going to happen. Snakes in the house? Of course Dale put them there!! Who's following Cooper?? Who else?! From the very beginning you know that Dale is guilty of everything...

There were practically no surprises in this movie. Also, the music was quite annoying. I'm sure it was meant to startle and be thrilling or something, but it really sounded like a 3-year-old banging on a piano at spontaneous moments.

One good thing about this movie though was the acting. Part of the reason I wanted to see "Cold Creek Manor" was because of its great cast. Stone, Quaid, Lewis, and Dorff all do good jobs with what little they had to work with. But I couldn't help feeling bad for them and wondering how they'd gotten their talented selves mixed up in this mess...

All in all, "Cold Creek Manor" was a laughable, tired, and disappointing film, that, with a bit of creativity, could have been so much better.

The Chosen (1981)
educational yet entertaining
16 July 2003
I watched this film recently in class (intro to Western Religion) when we were learning about the ethics in Judaism. I was late for class, so I missed the beginning. However, the parts I managed to see were excellent. "The Chosen" might be the most entertaining film I've ever been forced to watch.

I felt that the story was engrossing; I actually cared about the characters and their friendship. I also thought that the acting was superb. However, I kept being distracted by the fact that Robby Benson looked like Hayden Christensen. For a film used as an educational tool, I could not have asked for much better. This is a very well made and interesting movie. It will teach you a lot.

Pleasantly surprising...

Warning: Spoilers
(((((***Maybe contains a SPOILER***)))))I was bored today, so I decided to watch some TV. I caught this movie from the very begining, and I got pretty wrapped up in it. Despite the fact that it took a huge chunk of my busy day to watch, I couldn't tear myself away from it. And I could swear to myself that Tyler was the kid from VR Troopers (and I was right!). Even though this film was a bit predictable and maybe a little cheesy, it was very enjoyable. There are good performances, likeable characters, and an ideal ending. Watch it if you ever catch it on TV!

I liked it!

Despite what you might have heard, "AOTC" was good, fun, action packed, and chock full o' hotties. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are foxy as usual and Yoda kicks tail. If you haven't seen it, you should. Don't listen to the critics and naysayers because this movie rocks!
