A little to "big"
7 May 2001
I feel a little cheated. I am a big fan of the 1999 Mummy and have seen it close to 25 times. It was not an Oscar worthy movie by any means but it just "clicked". The dialog was good (and humorous), the story line interesting, the action exciting and the characters worked well together. The chemistry between Brendan and Rachel was good. Now, as for the sequel, well, I was a bit disappointed. Gone was the chemistry between the two main characters; the dialog was not as good or as important to the storyline which was going in too many directions; and too many extraneous characters were added. More time and money was obviously spent on special effects. The storyline of the reincarnation of Evie was a good twist, but it was much more fun to hate one bad Mummy in the first movie than to worry about 2 bad guys here. Lastly, I am wondering why they are promoting The Rock so much for this movie when he was on screen for all of about 10 minutes, and yes, I do know they are working on THAT movie now. As a summer action flick, it delivers, but for those of us seeking the same "charm" of the first movie, I came away feeling empty.

Not a bad movie to watch over and over and over....
10 March 2001
My 1 year old is obsessed with this movie. We have watched it at least 20 times and my son wants to watch it everyday. He loves the trains and the silliness of the whole movie. I must say that I do not get sick of it like most movies you watch over and over. My 2 other sons (ages 4 and 8) also enjoy it, especially the character Mr. C. Jr. (Michael E. Rodgers is hilarious). This is one of the few movies that my children enjoy and I don't go crazy watching. I think it is also good for the kids to watch since it contains very little violence. It also has the added bonus of being filmed at the Strasburg Railroad using the very same train that we ride on every year.

Spacey, Hunt and Osment deliver high caliber performances
14 October 2000
As usual, Spacey and Hunt deliver exceptional performances, I was especially interested in young Haley Joel Osment to see if he could give as an emotionally charged performance as he did in The Sixth Sense. I was not disappointed. This is one talented kid! The movie had depth, the characters were layered and the emotions were flowing! I highly recommend this movie. Two thumbs up!

Laugh out loud funny!!
18 September 2000
I saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Festival and it was the funniest movie I had seen in years. The writing was fantastic and the performances were excellent. Kenneth Branagh's timing of his lines were perfect and the audience (of 2000) were literally laughing so hard we were crying. Definitely thumbs up!!!!A Must see!!
