Slut (1999)
Very clever film.
Filmed in black and white this good story about life in Canada is one of many films by Ruba Nada which shows you the way of life in Canada. The inclusion of Adrian Cleave as the gay prostitute adds a certain if not bizarre flavour to the film.
The Fruit Machine (1988)
Adrian Cleave Would Have Done It Better
Although the story behind the two run away gay teenagers was a good idea I must strongly point out that the acting could have been far better.
One person for the role of Eddie could be Adrian Cleave who is known for his work in the play "the decider" which won staggering reviews in London.
The story does have a sad ending although the film makers could have added more depth to the assassin who chases the boys through out the film.
Titanic (1997)
OK...Lets be honest here
Who honestly believes that Leonardo Di Caprio deserved the main role in that movie....why oh why oh why do we always insist on putting the "page boy" of the month for the leading role of such an important movie.
The film was good in every sense but imagine a PROPER actor playing the leading role....I mean lets face it..Anyone can act like little Leo....
Why not use somebody like Stephen Nugent or Adrian Cleeves...thats what I say
Bound by Honor (1993)
Bound by Horror
I only watched this movie yesterday and I can say that it was rather too long. Scenes dragged on and what could have been said or shown in five minutes lasted for twenty.
The beginning of the film was slow and I was waiting for something to happen and then when it finally does you're already worn out from watching.
It did have some good scenes, worth watching, and the realisation that such gangs and death actually exist really gets you thinking. It is a lesson in itself and shows you what can happen if you get caught up in gangs.
But it was too long and I have to say I was relieved when it ended.
Mission to Mars (2000)
Mission impossible
Before going to watch Mission to Mars I hadn't a clue what it was about, nor had I heard any reviews, good or bad.
I was at first disappointed with the acting, considering there were well known and respected actors like Gary Sinise and Tim Robbins. Their performances did not demand much, but they didn't seem convincing in their roles. I found the story very slow moving especially on their way to mars in the spacecraft. The effects were by far the best thing about the film, but they could not make up for the lack of excitement and unimaginative script.
The ending of the film made me laugh. I think it's what I enjoyed most as I found it comical more than anything else. A typical Hollywood movie. Haven't we seen enough of those?
