Ying xiong (2002)
it's called hero in English
yeah well, what can i say. it's not as good as star wars, it's not even as good as rush hour 2, and i'd only call that a half good film (the jackie chan half). the music is turgid and the action just doesn't make sense at all. i mean what is it with those locations, if you are going to have a fight scene then set it in a subway or on a building or something, like the matrix did. but no because it's a korean film it has to be all people kicking about in trees and on water. and that's another thing, if i wanted to read a film i'd go to the library, please please just dub films, i hate subtitles. i was really looking forward to this after seeing little mister li kick mel Gibson about a bit in that last lethal weapon film, but after seeing this i'll be steering well clear in future. my advice is if you want this type of film then stick with the king - steven segal.
Paycheck (2003)
woo does it again!!!!!!!!!!
Yet again the master has shown that the move from Hong Kong to The good old US of A was well worthwhile. This is far better than the other Woo films that people go on about, like "the killer", "hard boiled" or "bullet in the head", mainly i guess because it's in English, so you don't have to read the film you can just settle back and watch Ben Affleck get all confused about everything, while everything blows up around him. To call this film "the best film to come out of America this year", would be underselling it.
I't's vital that you see this at the cinema, because the explosions look much better when they are big, and they sound louder too. i'd give it 11 out of 10, if i could. But since I can't i'll just have to give it 10.
Hellraiser: Deader (2005)
history will prove me right
C'mon now people, this is the highlight of the hellraiser series. The first three are average, but this is just a masterpiece, and i'm shocked to find it has such a low rating on this site. I won't go into the story here but it's fiendishly clever, and subtle, unlike number four. The sooner they get these four (IV, V, VI, VII)films into a DVD box the better the world will be. It'd be cool if we could have a 5.1 THX mix of the soundtrack to to bring out some of the screams a bit more, and to do justice to the genius soundtrack. And as for the lack of Pinhead, well he's in more than enough of the other films, so quit your whining boy, and sit through this masterpiece again!
American Psycho (2000)
The thing that none of you seem to understand.
Ok here it is. I'm a big fan of the book and i've just seen the film. I thought it was ok, i sort of got the same feeling i got after seeing trainspotting. I felt it could have been longer. It always seems to happen when you have to chop out scenes, merge characters etc. Anyway, what no one seems to have grasped here is that none of the killings actually happen, it all goes on within Batemans bored mind. Paul Allen doesn't die, no one does. Well I hope this helps next time you see it, sixth sense
