A Few Good Men (1992)
Intense, meaningful and surprisingly funny
Many powerful dramas have been made throughout the history of motion pictures. This is one of few to combine intense meaningful drama with a funny script, full of witty dialog. The ensemble of nothing but renowned competent actors ensures excellent performances throughout the movie. This would have been an almost perfect film if it wasn't for one little consistency issue regarding Colonel Jessep. Until the very end of the film, the script portrays the events from Jessep's point of view with gruesome accuracy, but after his confession he becomes a man with no apparent sense of causal relations. The fact that the man who formerly went to such extremes as to make entire flights disappear to protect his secret, doesn't understand the consequences of him confessing that secret, in the court of law, makes me confused. Of course you could argue that the colonel lives by the rules and notions of the Marine Corps and doesn't fully comprehend the world outside. I still don't accept it completely though, but that doesn't matter much overall. This is an excellent film. Watch it, watch it again and then re-watch it. You won't be disappointed.

Kiss of the Dragon (2001)
Great action with a story that goes nowhere
Luc Besson and Jet Li team up to make an action movie. As sensible as that may sound something went terribly wrong in the process. Somehow they managed to forget that even cheesy action movies need some kind of story. I've seen music videos having a better story than this one. The central function of a story is to tell us something, and even if cheesy action movies seldom penetrate very deeply into human nature, they usually manage to tell us simple things like: Why a man was killed and why Jet Li's character is set up to take the blame. That is by the way the main story of the movie and the reason why Li's character is put in numerous unrealistic scuffles and shootings.
The only reason I gave this movie 2/10 is because of the action scenes. Here we get what to expect from Jet Li teamed up with Besson. Unfortunately everything else, in lack of better wording, pretty much sucks. If you want to see 98 minutes of surprisingly scarce and pointless, but sometimes entertaining action sequences, I can recommend this film. Otherwise stay away from it.
Get Over It (2001)
Empty and predictable...
High School student Kelly Woods (Dunst) helps Berke (Foster) win back his girlfriend Allison (Sagemiller). Having no acting or singing talent at all, Berke auditions for a school musical, which Allison will star in. Kelly plays one of the leads of the musical and helps Berke, but also falls in love with him.
The story is empty and predictable. You can pretty much tell what will happen after 15 minutes or so. Highlights are Kirsten Dunst and a few great musical acts. What a waste to have this, obviously talented girl, appear in movies like Bring It On and this one. She does however save the movie from a total disaster.
If you don't have anything else to do, I could recommend that you take a look at this one. After all it's not very long (87 min) and it does have some nice musical acts.
