A Christmas Carol (2012)
So Lacking and Disappointing
I've seen many versions of this story and was encouraged by the description of this being one of the darker treatments. But it was like they weren't really trying. Important lines were skipped, dialog was only one-sided, many details were missing, such as Marley's ghost talking about the chains he wore, but you couldn't see any. Or bed curtains being confused with window curtains. Way too many parts were clips shown earlier in the movie to fill the space. So much more could have been made by the creepy parts. The small cast didn't help either. No parties, no rooms of people, Fezziwig's and Fred's had just 3 people. The acting was wooden and everyone's eyes were unemotional, with the one exception of Bob Cratchit. Scrooge wasn't transformed except he stopped acting so angry. So disappointing.
The music was good, though, so that was appreciated.
Sewer Gators (2022)
So Much Fun!
Oh, man! I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a long time!!
Sewer Gators just came out this summer and is hilariously bad! Alligators are in the sewers and are coming up in people's toilets to eat them. And then bathtubs, washing machines, faucets, and even sprinkler systems! 😆
They obviously had a small budget so they made it campy on purpose. It's not a comedy, but I'm laughing my head off. I've never seen so many rubber alligators before!! 😂 The acting, cinematography, effects, and everything are so bad it's funny! They even have a shoutout to Quinn's job offer from Jaws, with a guy "scraping" his nails on a whiteboard! 😃
It's only an hour long and it's freakin' hilarious! And no nudity, no gore (well, there's some ketchup!), and hardly any language. Just fake alligator violence. I totally recommend it!
It (2017)
A fantastic retelling of the story -- Creepy and believable!
Just saw Stephen King's It (2017) and it was fabulous! 🎈 The music and sound were perfect in setting the mood and building the tension. The story was really good and the characters were believable. The CGI was awesome as well.
From the very first note, I found the music pulling me into the story and enhancing the creepiness/scariness factor. Kudos to Benjamin Wallfisch for an excellent score!
When I watch a movie, one gauge is how often I say, "THAT wouldn't happen!" or "Why would he do THAT?" or "REALLY??" When the believability suffers, the whole movie suffers.
At most, the new IT had one small moment like that, but it was very small. Overall, I give it an A! 🎈
