Wedding Crashers (2005)
Racist, Sexist, Homophobic and Voilent
I am so sad that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn agreed to be part of such a terrible movie. This movie is racist, sexist homophobic and violent. Rape is never funny! Homophobia is not funny! Family members (or all members of society for that case) should not allow people to be stomped on for being different. The only actors who are not "white" are portrayed as being either ridiculously simple minded or household help (not members of "mainstream" society).
There were a few moments that I thought were funny. However, I was offended for more of the movie than I was entertained. I considered leaving about half way through this movie, but I decided that I should give it a chance to redeem itself before I left in anger. It didn't redeem itself. If you choose to see this movie I won't judge. But, if you find this funny, I hope that you will examine the racist, sexist, homophobic and violent roots of what you call comedy!

Support this Canadian (Albertan) gem
I had a great time watching this movie. I do wish that I spoke Cree, or that I would have brought a Cree speaker with me. There is a scene where it would have been handy. You can infer what the conversation is about, but the woman beside me was killing herself laughing and I only had a little chuckle at the parts of the conversation that were in English. The acting in this film is superior for the most part. However, there was one role that I would re-cast if it was up to me -- the teacher. Her acting was poor and actually quite distracting, but I am sure that it was well intended. Her role in general was a little confusing. There seemed to be some inconsistencies around her character. That said, Sorensen did an excellent job capturing the spirit of the north, and Da Silva (especially) brought his words to life. I laughed and almost cried. Support this Canadian gem; you will not be disappointed.
Kung fu (2004)
know when to laugh
I would have rated this movie higher if I wasn't so frustrated by the people around me. Those around me laughed at some parts that I found rather offensive as opposed to comical. For example, a group of children urinating on another child is not funny. It is unsanitary and dehumanizing. Please do not laugh. If you do, this is a sure sign that you are not meant to be a parent or work with children -- at least not until you find this as upsetting as I did. I wish I had rented this movie so I could have watched it at home without this constant nervous giggle surrounding me.
For those of you who choose to see this movie be warned that this is not the only part that you may find culturally offensive. There is excessive spousal abuse and gay bashing. I would warn you about the violence but it is explicit and actually one of the most entertaining parts of the film.
