The Night Agent (2023)
Boring and some bad acting
I wanted to check out The Night Agent because of all of the great reviews on here. I am on episode 3 and I am waiting for it to get interesting or exciting. So far I have a lot of issues with the show. Other than the main character, Peter, the other actors are all pretty weak or miscast. The "bad guys" are mostly ridiculous, so there is no real sense of suspense. The whole production seems amateurish and painful to watch at tmes. I seriously do not get all of the good reviews. I am confused. Maybe the show gets better. I'm going to try and stick with it. But so far, it isn't even enjoyably bad. It is just terribly lame.
The Dive from Clausen's Pier (2005)
Typical Wifetime movie
I didn't think the lead actress had enough depth and gravitas to carry off the part of the main character, who while eliciting some empathy is far from sympathetic- She seemed very remote and vacant. Although I can't tell how much of the fault with this character lies with the script. The Kilroy character seemed to be an overgrown, immature, poseur and I could not see how any woman would find this attractive. The character of Mike kept apologizing to Carrie but I'm not sure what for. He seemed to be quite the forgiving guy. And even if he wasn't a quadriplegic, he still came across as the most mature and sympathetic amongst this love triangle. I did not read the book and after viewing this movie I wouldn't want to. I have to disagree with another reviewer's opinion that "the cast, without exception, was one-dimensional and juvenile" and that the movie "seemed like a teenybopper soap opera". I thought with the exception of Carrie and Kilroy, the casting was fairly good. The cast of young twenty-something's did not look like your typical O.C. or One Tree Hill gang and the acting chops were certainly a cut above your typical soap opera characters. The casting was probably the only good thing about the movie. And I didn't see this as a typical teenybopper soap opera, just your typical disappointing Wifetime -movie of the week.
Wrong Turn (2003)
Pretty Good Flick
I thought the movie was pretty good, more as a thriller than horror movie. I generally don't like horror movies because I've never found any of them to be scary. If I were watching a horror movie in some dark cabin, alone in the middle of a place like the backwoods of W. VA. then I suppose I might be scared. But watching a horror movie in a movie theater or in the comfort of my own home just doesn't do it for me. Having said all that, I liked "Wrong Turn" because it was more of an action movie with good pacing, and without most of the usual stupid characters.
Nid de guêpes (2002)
Loved it!
Considering that my all-region DVD player was on the fritz and I missed half the subtitles, I really enjoyed this movie. The visuals were striking and the acting solid. Great modern-day "Western". Thoroughly entertaining.
