Annoying details at the end
26 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This is an entertaining movie and fitting closure to the first Star Wars trilogy. And I still enjoy watching it. But there are some minor details that bugs me more and more for each time I see it. It's in the last half hour, during the battle on forest moon Endor, that the annoying details just keep piling up. Maybe some hardcore Star Wars fans can correct me on these: R2-D2 becomes mysteriously mobile in the rugged forest as it seems he has strolled down to the entrance to the base all on his own. Amazing feat, considering he seems to stumble on minor obstacles anywhere else in the three movies. Oh well. Thats a minor detail, a much bigger, more annoying one is that the Storm Troopers gets knocked out by sticks and small stones thrown at them. Why bother with a helmet if it actually does more harm than good?? And finally, when Chewbacca comes along in the big, what are they called again - walker? He doesn't just blast the entrance open. No, they have to use it to "lure" out the hapless guards. Well, the single most annoying "detail" is the stormtroopers getting knocked out by small sticks and stones.

Too bad Hayden ruins everything
24 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Of course, like everyone else, I wanted this movie to be good. I really, really tried to convince myself. But, alas, Lucas let us down once more. My biggest problem with this movie is actor Hayden Christensen. He has no talent, no charisma, not an ounce of skill that make him come across as believable. Sigh. How Lucas could screw this up is beyond my comprehension. And what's up with all the robots for Gods' sake?? Robots delivering babies? Robots using light sabers? Granted, R2-D2 and C3PO has a certain kind of charm, but it seems Lucas couldn't resist the temptation to use robots and CGI wherever he can. Maybe Lucas don't like real people? Or real actors.....

Nice try, but didn't pull it off
25 April 2004
Comedy is hard. All the ingredients can be right, the casting can be perfect, the screenplay can be skillfully written, but still you never know if it will transcend into a good movie. This movie tries hard, and never really makes it to the finish line. I can't really pin it down to a concrete, maybe the plot could be a tad stronger, maybe that illusive element of magic chemistry that is impossible to plan didn't quite peak. A too long and kind of sequence with the original tv-actors at the end doesn't exactly help either. Nevertheless, the effort can be enjoyed with some funny moments, but this is not a showstopper, and not a movie you should be sad to miss.

Entertaining nonsense
22 August 2003
This is crap, but entertaining high-budget crap. I thought the first one maybe was a bit better, and I missed Bill Murray as Bosley, but I liked all the actors except Demi Moore which I found more creepy than sexy. She must have had a lot of plastic surgery. But, all in all, pretty good mindless and forgettable fun. Cameron Diaz is especially good, I think she is the funniest girl in movies. I give it a 7.

No charm, no point.
22 August 2003
This movie made me miss the old tv-series with Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk, which had zero CGI but lots of good old charm. This movie has lots of CGI, but zero charm. No point going to see this flick. I gave it a 5, but I think I'll have to reconsider and give it a 4.

Glorified crap
22 August 2003
This movie lacks the vision of Cameron, the presence of Furlong, Patrick or Hamilton, and a really good script like T2 had. It has a really, really huge budget which seems like the one important criteria for blockbusters these days. To be frank it looks like a 100 million dollar movie with a 50 cent script. Forgettable nonsense. This is nothing compared to Terminator or T2.

Good, but not hilarious
16 August 2000
This movie ain't bad. A mob boss going to the shrink is actually a very good idea. But I don't think this movie explores the idea in the most interesting manner. I would enjoy this movie more if it were more like the

tv-series Sopranos. But I suppose that comparison is an invalid one. What the hell, it's Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro!

Bo Derek naked!
15 August 2000
It's been a while since I saw this movie. Maybe it's because I was quite young back then, but Bo Derek naked in all kinds of positions made me drool. Unlike movies like "Wild Things" or "Showgirls" you get a lot of naked skin screentime. That's the only conceivable reason for watching this movie, to see the lovely Bo Derek naked. And you get to see a lot of her. I'm still searching for the video, so I can watch it again... so sue me.

One of a kind
14 August 2000
After reading so many comments who put this film down, I just had to write something to its defence. True: the film is confusing in many ways; you get confused what is real and what is not for example. But some of the hilarious scenes in this movie is more than worth it. In one of his most remarkable, over-the-top performances, Nicolas Cage transforms from an up-tight snob to a complete lunatic. This is one of the most original and unconventional movies I have ever seen. Those of you who want predictable Hollywood movies should steer away; for the rest of you this can be an enjoyable experience!

I walked out
7 August 2000
This is the only movie I have walked out on at a movie theater. Simply because I was bored. So I haven't seen the whole movie, actually only about 30 minutes of it. It was astonishingly boring. I guess there have been made worse movies than this, but there you go.

Big disappointment
9 June 2000
I haven't seen First Contact, but surely, it must be ten times better than this crap... Off course, I am a big fan of the Next Generation series, and therefore I had some anticipation before watching this flick. But frankly, many of the episodes are a lot better produced and have a much more compelling story than this movie.

Boring movie
31 January 2000
This is one of those movies that just doesn't cut it. Partly this is caused by a script which lacks a nerve and something to tie all the pieces together and give us a satisfactory ending. But most importantly, what really makes this movie a crappy one is Harrison Ford. There are two categories of actors; the one that makes a movie and the one that is made by the movie. Ford falls into the latter category. I don't think he's a very good actor, and an over-prized one at that. He has the charm of a lug. The one thing that is positive about this movie is Kristin Scott Thomas, though. She is brilliant, as always.

Convincing interpretation of Kennedy assassination
26 January 2000
Ok, this movie might be a vehicle for Stones' personal crusade, but I chose to buy it. Very impressive cast with wonderful performances the likes of Sutherland, Bacon, and many many more. John Candy shows he has the capability to do a serious role, and brilliantly to. Kevin Costner is excellent as attorney Jim Garrison, he doesn't get any better than this. This film is a very engaging one, it pushed me almost to a state of paranoia, ooh.

Perhaps the 90's finest comedy
2 November 1999
This is a great comedy with all the right ingredients! A very funny plot, great acting performances. I fell in love with Marisa Tomei as Mona Lisa Vito in this movie. Brooklyn accent has never been this sexy! And Joe Pesci is as brilliant as ever. And there is a lot of funny details and they work!
