Road Trip (2000)
93 minutes of hilarious fun!!!
25 October 2000
There was something about Road Trip, something that I can't explain, that I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in the cinema. So I went to watch it again. And then once more. And I plan to buy it on DVD as well! So what's so good? Granted, this is not an inspirational film which delivers a powerful message, and I can't imagine it sweeping the board at the Oscars. But that's not why it's here. It never takes itself too seriously once, and leaves the audience in absolute tears! As far as I am concerned, this is up there with American Pie in sheer comedy greatness of our time! The laughs are fresh, at times disgusting, but constantly in your face and down-right funny. The cast, from the smoulderingly sexy Amy Smart to the wicked Seann William Scott to the bizarre yet unquestionably hilarious Tom Green, are absolutely fantastic. The writing is witty and sharp throughout, and a pumping soundtrack as well makes this film one not 2 be missed! Go and see it now. Right Now! 9.5/10

Frighteningly excellent
5 September 2000
Warning: Spoilers
The Usual Suspects, is, in my mind, one of the most fantastic pieces of film-making ever to grace our screens. That a group of people can come up with a piece of fiction that is so excellent in every way, from start to finish, is frightening. Who knows, maybe this film has no superior.

A lot is made of the film's ending. Not for a moment am I going to let slip what exactly that is. I would never deny another film lover the sheer sense of amazement that ran through my body when the film reached its climax. While not the film's only strong point; this is a masterpiece ALL the way through, the ending will blow you away.

The cast is, in a word, flawless. Kevin Spacey has, as far as I am concerned, never been better. He turns in a performance that is so moving and outstanding that he should have got three Oscars. But he is not alone. Byrne is fantastic, Del Toro adds continental flair, and Postlethwaite is disturbingly dark, yet calculated.

By all means watch this film, and observe its strong points, from Bryan Singer's masterful direction to the equally pleasing musical score. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster ride and the best ending EVER in a film made anywhere in the world. I mean that.

Oh, and when you have finished; by all means, watch it again!

Pulp Fiction (1994)
10/10
Maybe the greatest film ever made
15 December 1999
Warning: Spoilers
Despite its release in 94, i have only seen Pulp Fiction recently. I watched it in amazement. Then, when it had finished, I watched it again.

!!WARNING: Contains some plot points that could be considered as SPOILERS!!

Plot: PF focuses on three tales of low-life gangsters in LA. They are VINCENT VEGA (Travolta) JULES (Jackson) and a host of others, namely BRUCE WILLIS, UMA THURMAN, and HARVEY KEITEL. The film is told in a very non-linear format, with the end in the middle and the start at the end etc. But the stories are incredibly well-written and woven. In Pulp you will witness scenes with some of the finest dialogue ever!! Tarantino is clearly very talented and it shines through here.

SCENES TO LOOK OUT FOR: Butch Coolidge (WILLIS) deciding what weapon to use to kill the rapists.

Travolta accidentally shooting Marvin in the face

A lovely cameo by Tarantino as JIMMIE

Pumpkin and Honeybunny in the restaurant

Samuel L.Jackson's bible recites.

Overall the plot is very well done.

CAST: Packed full of stars, the cast of PF is an excellent one. Great actors and actresses put in career performances with a little help from Tarantino. Willis and Jackson are the main men, but Ving Rhames is excellent. Christopher Walken and Steve Buscemi make excellent cameos along with Tarantino. Thurman was good yet under-used. Travolta was fairly cool. To be fair, there was not much wrong with the film's actors at all. A good choice of cast: WELL DONE!

Warning: The film, whilst not glorifying violence or drug abuse, has some strong drug and violence scenes. Despite this, it is a funny and entertaining film, but if u r easily offended by the previous elements, have caution. BUT DONT LET IT RUIN THIS EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME! Watch PF right now!

Mark: 9.5/10

(Only because maybe nothin in life is 100% perfect)

Armageddon (1998)
10/10
The best film in years
13 October 1999
There's been a lot said about Armageddon on this site that may make you think it's not a good film. However, i beg to differ. It is, in fact, my favourite film of ALL time. I don't know exactly what it is about the film that makes me love it so much. The first time i saw it was when i rented it. I LOVED it, and now own the video. I have seen this masterpiece around 8 times, but i'll never tire of watching it.

The acting, sfx and music are all FAB, and the script is cool too. Quotes like "THE CLOCK ON THAT 9FT NUCLEAR WEAPON IS TICKING" and evn "HOUSTON YOU HAVE A PROBLEM" and "U COULDN@T TELL US WHO REALLY KILLED JFK COULD YA?" are just so damn good. bruce Willis is my favourite actor and he is brilliant. Watch out for the impeccable Steve Buscemi, Ben affleck, and the gorgeous Liv Tyler.

WATCH IT!

10/10. *****
