Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (2008)
See the movie, keep an open mind
I've seen comments about this movie like: "I don't want to see the movie...it's a waste of money..." They admit they haven't seen or want to see the movie yet they proceed to put down anybody who would agree with the movie. Strange, how can you comment on a movie you haven't seen or don't even know what the movie is about? Having a closed mind is the whole premise of the movie! Why can't we allow other people to voice an opinion that doesn't agree with ours? I said there was a spoiler and here it is...stay to the end and listen to the interview Ben had with Richard Dawkins. Really listen to his answers to the questions put forth and you can you can see even Richard admits there are problems in the current theory that he can't explain.
I don't agree with the "inter-cutting of interviews with footage of Hitler and Nazi stormtroopers" that too is not right. But the movie points out that "scientists" have been and are being fired for just bringing up the idea of "Intelligent Design" and it asks the question why? Why shouldn't they be allowed to their opinion? Allow, people with different opinions to voice their opinions. If scientists follow evidence to a different conclusion than the accepted norm...then let them. That is how we get advances in science! Bottom line is...see the film...listen to the message...then make up your own mind. But trying to silence people from giving their opinion is a freedom we should never give up! That's my 2 cents.
Boa vs. Python (2004)
Two types of movies
It would be nice to have two different sets of voting standards for movies. One set for the well made movies with money and one set for the "B" movies. Most of the time I enjoy B movies, because I understand up front how they were made and I don't expect a lot of "movie magic" from the movie, but just a simple movie.
I would have given this a better rating under the B movie rating scale, because it wasn't a bad B move. Once you go into the movie with the B movie mind set you know how to place your expectations.
This movie falls in line with the Anaconda movies and the Boa movies. This movie actually has a plot and the acting isn't bad (B movie wise.) The special effects are pretty good in context.
Would I go and pay to see the movie, no, but it fits in well with the SciFi channels Saturday afternoon line-up.
Set yourself up for a B movie and enjoy the show!
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
This is real or is it?
**spoiler comments** Well having just seen the film and having read some of the comments...I have to also add mine. Sure the film ended at the wrong place, but it's part of the trilogy. Do I think Smith crossed over into the "real world?" I don't think he did...why did Neo "feel" the sentinels as they approached? How was Neo able to disable them? I think there is more to the move than we think..."I think." Could this "made up" world give the humans a way for them to rebel and then be put back into their place? If Neo is the "one" then he should feel something different...let's wait for the third move and see what is real and what is not!
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)
Which STVI Movie Did U Watch?
I guess I watched a different STVI movie than some of the reviewers. The one I watched had the original crew become stupid to the point they have to have a rookie tell them how to "sabotage" the message from Star Fleet. They had to look up Klingon words in "books" and attempt to say them without the use of the computer for help! The Klingon's are so stupid that they don't catch the transmitter on Kirks back. They didn't know firing a phaser would set off an alarm (how many years in Star Fleet?) They didn't know the suspected crew man's species so the "shoe doesn't fit!"
I too was sucked in at first, but after seeing the movie again and the way the movie cast the original crew (Sulu the exception) as being so stupid (I guess that is why they were never promoted) IMHO, I think this is the worst Star Trek movie ever made. I know there are more things the movie did to cheapen the original crew, but this is all I can think of right now. It's a shame that this movie didn't show them as they should have been seen, being the hero's behind Kirk. After seeing this film I'm amazed that Kirk ever saved anything with such bumbling idiots for a crew!
