just worth it for the scenery

Filmed in Fiji. Also Milla is gorgeous. Supposedly a nude scene but not much. A slight side view of Milla. First part of the movie is slow. So the ending is stupid but can't give it away.

But at least I could get through some of them. This I had to stop about a third of the way through. Hard to follow. Much like "Memento" Great cast but the story jumps around too much.

Takes place in The South China Sea so why do the trees look like they are in Maine. Actually it was filmed in Bulgaria. I'm surprised they got Lorenzo Lamas to do it. He must have been hard up for money.

They are firing guns and even a bazooka on board the spaceship!! You have to take this movie for the budget it had and the special effects capabilities of the time. Funny watching al the goofy mistakes.

So many fun stereotypes. Men drooling over the only woman they have seen. Hero lifting up girl in his arms to save her from the Mantis. Women screaming. Its not trying for an oscar.

For this to win best picture it must have been a case where Robert Redford called in his friends. Slow is too fast a word to use. Probably one of the worst Best Picture Oscar winners I've ever seen.

Too much stupid dialog. So many storylines that I wasn't interested in.

One characters main attribute is that he doesn't wear a shirt anywhere. Pointless movie.

If this movie were made today Jeff Bridges would be listed as some gender fluid guy like asexual or something. I don't even get the "Mirror has two faces" reference. Waste of time. I only give it 4 because I have seen movies that are 1 and 2's. So this is not as bad as those.

The lighting for this movie is terrible. Low budget I assume. Anthony Quinn is miscast. Generally pretty boring.

First on IMDB in the credits they Jason Mamoa as Spider. Its Spyder and a big deal was mentioned about it in the movie. It had some big names like David Arquette, Elizabeth Rohm. Adam Goldberg and Kal Penn but if you blink you'll miss them.

Very slow moving. Great acting by Michael Shannon but I kept waiting for something to happen. I guess something happens at the end but I couldn't figure what that is. Good thing I was multitasking and didn't have to just watch this movie by itself. I watched it because it had a high rating on IMDB but dissappointed in this one.

Dim lighting doesn't help. I thought Meg Ryan's acting was good. Just an OK movie. I noticed across all age groups women liked this more than men. I wonder what that says about women and how they view the rough sex? Very dark movie.

Alien (1979)

classic scifi

I always like movies where the people are on something they can't get off of like a plane, train, ship or, in this case, a spaceship. The Alien is not shown for a while so it keeps you in suspense. Special effects are very good.

Is Paris Burning? (1966)

Amazing they got so many scenes in Paris without people on the streets. Its way too long and the fighting scenes were not very realistic but perhaps it was good for 1966.

Seconds (1966)

1 hour 45 minute twilight zone episode

Rather slow. This COULD have been a 1 hour Twilight Zone episode. Camera angles were funky. Close ups of Mr. Ruby's nostrils actually made me laugh. I watched it because of the high rating but I was disappointed.

I like these type of time travel movies where you need a pad and paper to keep track of things. Its been over for 10 minutes and I am still trying to figure out what happened. Very enjoyable mind twister.

The first half of the movie is very slow. Geoffrey Rush only appears in the last 1/3 of the movie. He doesn't have much dialogue and half of what he says you can't understand. I don't think it was Oscar worthy performance.

Decent rework of a similar movie "All the Presidents men" except with murders. The big mistake was that the main character whos' aide he was sleeping with and gets murdered doesn't find out till the end of the movie that she was pregnant. This would have been found out immediately at the autopsy. Very good cast.

If you want to be depressed this is the movie for you. I rate it a 9 on a sadness scale. How Stanley Tucci was nominated for an academy award I'll never know; He hardly has any dialogue.

I spent more time trying to guess who was who than paying attention to the plot line. Perhaps I didn't want to invest that much effort trting to figure it out. I gave up after about 1/2 hour.
