Black Roses (1988)
Heavy Metal Madness Hits Film
This is one of two MUST HAVE metal horror movies from the 80's the other being "Trick Or Treat". An Awesome Soundtrack In This Movie. The Story Is About A Demonic Metal Band (With Carmine Appice On Drums) Who Come To A Small Town To Start Their Concert Tour And This Town Is The Test Town Before They Head Out On The Road. All kinds of metal madness takes place. No it isn't scary but was it ever intended to be? Its also a great movie to look at to see how "dressed up" people into heavy metal used to be back in the 80's before the current fashion of looking like a greasey haired bum with hand me down clothes and piercings on every appendage. If you can rent or get a copy of this dont miss it
Beautiful Thing (1996)
Beautiful Story But Sugarcoated
This is a wonderful story about two young men discovering their sexuality. I found a lot of the situations were very un-true to life. It seems as if they soar through the movie meeting very little resistance from society, friends or family and the world is their oyster. If your looking for a fairytale love story this may be it but if you like your situations true to life look elsewhere. The severe english accents and slang make the movie dialogue hard to understand
The Sum of Us (1994)
Excellent Real Life Portrayal!
This movie is my favorite of all time. Real life situations between a single dad and his gay son. The australian accents add to the film. Many twists and turns during the movie some sad some funny some happy. Its an emotional roller coaster and a definite must see
Partners (1982)
Funny, But at whose expense?
I can see how this may be funny if you laugh at gay jokes. Much too many stereotypical usages in this movie which might make todays gay man feel put down. It seems all the comedy is at the gay communities expense.
Ryan O'Neal made me feel very uncomfortable with the situation his character was in. As a straight cop he has to team up with a gay partner and live undercover in the gay community as a fellow gay person.
Fortune and Men's Eyes (1971)
Excellent Storyline About Gay Prison Life
The storyline kept me glued to the set. This is a must see if just to watch the charactor "queenie". Who somehow reminded me of Paul Stanley from KISS. The plot revolves around prison sex and the roles each plays in each others lives. Definatly a surprise ending I didnt expect
