Little Giants (1994)
It's a kids movie, what'd you expect?
This movie is aimed for kids but also wants their parents to enjoy. I have to say it succeeds. The story line is simple, underdogs defeating the odds. However there are some good jokes that anyone can laugh at. It's cute but that's alright. Don't waste your time watching this unless you have kids.
Arachnophobia (1990)
Entertaining, just don't take it seriously!!!
I hate spiders, they're horrible!!! So for some bizarre reason I decided to watch this moving a couple of months ago. Now the plotline is very simple: an african spider(I think its African!?) gets to the U.S and mates with a house spider. Big flaw there! The offspring is a deadly form of house spiders with a venomous bite that can kill any human it gets its fangs on. So the hero takes it upon himself to take out the nest living in his cellar, and save mankind. At the end this movie the plot just goes down the toilet (like it wasn't there already!), for the hero goes one on one with the queen and then the general. Which brings me to the biggest flaw of the whole movie; at the beginning the queen was a little house spider, yet at the end she turned into a huge tarantula type spider. Hows that possible? Anyways this movie does give you the creeps, which was its ultimate goal. You might as well watch it, just keep the raid with you!!!
The Simpsons (1989)
Homer Is King!
The Simpsons are one of the greatest pioneers of all time, without them cartoons would still be aimed JUST for kids. Without Homer and the gang there would be no South Park, Family Guy, P.Js etc. I love the Simpsons, it is by far the funniest show ever, and the list characters are great. Bart, who was the first to make headlines, is a perfect stereotype for pre-teens. He personifies the average youth, rambuctious yet has morals. Marge is the the housewife who holds the family together and Lisa is the brainy sister that thinks she knows everything about the world. Mr. Burns is hilarious, as he mimics Darth Vader with his ominous presence and maniacal thinking. I love how he can never remember Homer's name. Speaking of the king, Homer is by far the most influential sitcom character ever. He created DOH! and Mmmmm...; and even though he isn't the smartest guy he is a perfect role model for all dads. No matter how confused he is, Homer always tries his best to help his family. Unfortunately that can't be said for all fathers. I do agree that the Simpson's better years are behind them however after ten years no comedy can keep up its sharp as a knife wit and gut busting jokes. Also with the death of the great Phil Hartman many of the characters have been wiped out. I long to laugh at the crazy antics of Lionel Hutz, and the over arrogance of Troy McLure. However the Simpsons will always live on in repeats because you can watch the episodes over and over, but the laughs will never die!
Scream (1996)
Full of screams and laughs!
This was without a doubt the best horror movie in the 90's! Kevin Williamson hit the mark with teenagers and horror movies. (Do you believe this guy write Dawson's Creek?) Both Randy and Stu were both hilarious, Dewey was the heart warming character, and Sidney had to be the best female hero since Sigourney Weaver in Alien. This movie has you laughing and screaming, pretty good for what is dubbed a "slasher flick". On a final note the scene with Drew Berrymore is one of the scariest I've ever seen.
Needful Things (1993)
For a King adaptation, its pretty good
I've actually never taken the time to read the book, however I've read many other of King's book; and everytime their adaptations come out I feel soorry for him. However this story is entertaining, nothing more or less. Its not scary but it does give some thrilling scenes, which pretty much make the movie. Mr. King should be proud of this movie, because thats as good as it will ever be.
Star Wars (1977)
What can I say?
Star Wars has to rank among your top movies, no matter what kind of fanatic you are. This movie started a new wave in sci-fi movies; we no longer have to sit and watch the played out scenario of "Aliens taking over the earth". Without Star Wars I dread to think of what sci-fi movies would be like today. A solid 10 out of 10!
