The Airzone Solution (1993)
brief praise for this BBV special
Considering the budget restraints, Airzone Solution stands out as possibly the BEST of he BBV releases (or at least tied with the Stranger video "In Memory Alone"). Colin Baker, Sylv McCoy, Peter Davison (aka Peter Moffat) and Jon Pertwee work extremely well together, and Nicola Bryant is brilliant (especially when compared to her sappy role of the American companion PERI in Doctor Who).
Fans of Doctor Who will especially enjoy this film, as it is filled with subtle in-jokes and nostalgic moments (no to mention a fan-boy dream-come-true scene involving SPOILER PROTECTION SPOILER PROTECTION). Those without knowledge of Doctor Who may not understand the nostalgia involved in this production, but I feel that A.S. holds its merit as a charming tale of justice in an oppressed, poisoned near-future world, and the average viewer will enjoy it EVEN without prior knowledge of the nostalgia involved.
If you enjoyed the Stranger series, and/or Doctor Who, or if you like british sci-fi in general, I highly recommend Airzone Solution.
