Clerks II (2006)
Kevin Smith is back and we are all the better for it!
I recently caught a FREE screening of this film and I loved it! Smith is back and I love him! The guy with the dyed goatee and red face is back, and I love him! And the other one, you know, the guy who like never worked in films ever again, he is back too, and he is well fed and I love the world of carbs for that! And then there is those two guys who dance around and wear Columbine gear and look like two guys who dance around a lot. They are back in a BIG way, and I don't want to spoil anything, but....they get to dance around, and I love them for it! Snackie Packies! Oh, and I almost forgot, there is this chick who simply cannot act and looks like a man with tube socks in his bra, he is there too and I loved his acting. He almost had me believing he was the goatee dude's fiancée. I love you mister sir! Overall great movie....if that's your kind of thing.
Dogma (1999)
Totally forgettable farce.....
Kevin Smith's latest film answers that age old question, "How can two hours just disappear?" Outside of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon who turn in excellent performances, the cast drowns in a sea of rapid fire dialogue that is not believable and heavy. The routine of "two people meet, sit down, talk at length about a subject they know too much about, but the audience knows nothing about, change scene, two more people sit down, talk at length, change scene" has gotten boring and tedious by this, Smith's fourth film. The action scenes suffer the most from the still wet-behind-the-ears direction, and the big finale makes you look more at your watch then the supposed massacre appearing on-screen. Will make you say five years from now when someone mentions the film, "Hmmm, did I see that?".....
Hitler, ein Film aus Deutschland (1977)
Ever try tuning in a far away A.M. station?
Ever try tuning in a far away A.M. station? From another country perhaps, or even in your own language? Well, that just about sums up what seeing this movie is like. Part lecture (especially the last quarter), part play, part performance art, part Howdy Doody, this film rises to your conscious level of thinking at times, only to slip away in the wash of images, radio transcriptions and "creative" presentation (i.e. - acting). Challenging on all levels at all times, the viewer cannot help but feel lost some times and playing catch-up at all times. Good film to see when stranded at home, on the couch, with a fever of one-hundred and three. The fever would definitely be a plus.
