Platoon (1986)

WAR IS HELL

Platoon is a masterpiece.Stone captures the Nam from the grunts point of view.NO Rambo here.The jungle is full of death and fear.Sheen gives his best performance of his life.Dafoe and Ber add alot of grit to.For example,As Sheen struggles in a march,Barnes shows no understanding to him.GET A MOVE ON BOY HE SHOUTS.Dafoe takes a caring love to him.Further,there are a few negatives which I see more clearly now than 10 years ago in the film.Most of the platoon are not nice men.They kill innocent people with no remorse.Bunny is a section 8 in any other war.I have heard commanders of the time say drug use and hazing of civilians was not tolerated in the early years.Platoon takes place early in the war.I feel Stone added these lies to make a better movie.I knew these things did go on in the Nam.I question if Stone really saw these things?????????????????I give the film 8 out of 10/

10 to Midnight (1983)

The film is not bad.The movie centers on a crazy killer who has it all figured out.Bronson is tough as nails.The film has alot of nudity.This guy takes all his clothes off before he commits a crime.Don't watch on a regular tv please.They butcher this film.They have him blocked out.They have him with black undearwear on.Its a shame they ruin everything in regular tv.The film is not for kids under the age of 12.

This film is 20 years old.Hard to believe.The film basic plot is well known by now.The scares are there in this film.Mrs Palmer does a good job in this film.These films were always made to have you jump out of your seat and spilling your popcorn as a direct result. I love the sounds of the night and rain in the first 2 films.There is some beautiful country in this film.Hollywood ruined this series do to its own greed.Year after year they threw a friday the 13 out there.People tired of it by the mid 80s.I give the orginal 7 out of ten stars.The sequels g are horrible from part 7-9.

Prom Night (1980)

Saw the film on scfi last night.The movie is horrible.There is no orginality in it.The premise most people already now.The acting is not good at all.Curtis gives the worst performance of her life in this film.It is garbage nothing more or less.AVOID IT.You want to be scared go rent halloween1.

This film is truly unique.Clint has a name in this film compared to the other early westerns he was in.He plays a rebel on a death war with the union.His family was murdered by the leach Capt redlegs.He is quite a good villian.There is a lot of violence in the movie.The film does show a man must let go of hatred to live in peace with the world.Clint and old chief make a good team.The character of Fletcher also adds depth to the story.

Hollow Man (2000)

Look to your left and right?He's behind you.

The film plot revolves around a mad doctor and quest to be invisible to the naked eye.Kevin gives a good performance as the hollow man.He is not a likeable person in this role.He seems driven mad by his own mind.The effects are some of the greatest I have ever seen.The opening effects will take a academy award.The cast gives a ok performance.Shue seems out of he element in this kind of film.I liked it in the end.Music score a little overiding at times.

Pet Sematary II (1992)

The film is sour.

I have mixed feelings abou the film.It lacks a decent plot.The film leaves many questions unanswered to.I think part1 was the better.The book of pet semetary is much better than the films.In the book, Gage tells Jud somethings about his wife he never knew.That scares you and shocks you.They should have incorporated it in the film.Pet2 is a film that really never should have been made anyway.

I give Pet2 a 4 out of 10.

Jaws: The Revenge (1987)

TBS put this piece of garbage on last week again.It remains the worst movie ever made.The shark and acting are truely horrible.Its like a nightmare which you can't wake from.Hollywood is to be ashamed here.You must rember Lor Gary husband was a hollywood producer.I think he should have forbidden her role in this movie.Mike Caine should be ashamed to.I hope to never see a Jaws sequel again.

Jaws (1975)

Just when you thought?

I watched this masterpiece the other night.It still puts a chill in your spine.Spielberg direction here is great.His direction is truely wonderful.For example,The setup of the shark on the little boy.You know its him before he goes onto the water.Several false scares occur.Brody is like a man waiting for it to happen.The shot of the camera zooming him is priceless.Shaw steals the film with far less screen time.He overpowers the other 2 on the boat acting wise.Hollywood will never in a billion years duplicate this film.All the sequels and copys treat as the garbage they are.AVOID JAW3 AND JAWS4 AT ALL COSTS.I truely wished they left it alone at Jaws2.

Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)

GO GO GO!!!

The film is not to bad.Cage and his gang must swipe 50 cars in 24hrs.His brother is in deep with a hot car broker.The film effects and chases are good.Cage is having some fun for a change.He is one of hollywood's truly nice guys.He will have a hit with this film.He has better performances of course.This film is not about the meaning of life.Its a good summer movie.Critics get a life.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

The night they should have voided the movie.

Bad.The film is not related to Myers saga and should have been released as the season of the witch.It would have stood alone and not under the halloween logo.The main trouble with the film is show silly it is.Comeon masks and snakes.Corporate greed has ruined this once great saga.Halloween should have been left alone period.The sequels are getting so silly.Jason is the king of slashers anyhow.Mr.Carpenter should have left Myers dead on the lawn on Oct 31 1978.THE CRITICS WOULD HAVE MADE IT A CLASSIC.History shows sequels suck and ruin the orginal in most cases.Jaws,Halloween,Psycho,Friday etc.None of the sequels passed the orginal in any way.Case Closed.

Blade Runner (1982)

WOW! This film has impressive visuals and effects.Hard to believe they made it for 28 million.The story is about a blade runner who must hunt down replicants who reach earth.Ford plays the blade runner to perfection.There is alot going on in some shots.Rutger gives a great performance.Much has been written and debated about the film for years?Spoilers??? The debate on whether the blade runner is a replicant or human?I am unsure on it.I feel they wanted you to question that.Replicants are not allowed on earth for a fact.The rain snd shadows seem spooky.Apartments and rooms are dark in shadowey. A scfi classic in its own right.

TCM2 is a far cry from the orginal.It stinks like all the cheap sequels that were made.Dennis is horrible in many ways.Why can't hollywood learn this simple lesson.I have said it many time before.LEAVE THE CLASSIC ORGINALS ALONE.This is a big promblem in horror films the past 30 years.Psycho cheap sequels ruined the series.Did Hitch ever make a sequel to it?NO.TCM was a classic.Ruined by cheap sequels.Jaws sequels all stink.Halloween sequels stink.Friday had a few good one but most stink to.Listen hollywood.Why not promote a genre re release of the classics.I love to see the orginal Jaws,Friday,halloween,Tcm on the big screen.Try that you mellon heads.

Cobra (1986)

Silly and so hollywood of mid 80s

Ol Sly wanted to make cobra into a rocky or rambo deal I am postive of this fact.If film had done better you bet we would have had cobra4 by 93.I grew up in the mid 80s when Sly and Arnold were the action leads.Their time has passed.Cobra tries to stop a gang of new world fools trying to change the world?We are better of the way we are .I think as teens we were blinded to these movies.There is no real plot or story.ITS old Sly cashing a paycheck while the check is still good.Some good fights nothing more is there.

The Thing (1982)

The film is truly a masterpiece of its genre.The setting,music,mood work to perfection.The characters seem slowly driven mad as one after another die or become the thing.People complain about character development in the film.This is not War AND Peace.The bareness of life surrounding the camp is amazing.Possible spoiler maybe is coming up????The blood test in the rec room is the most harrowing 10 mins you will ever see in film .The critics and audieces of 1982 were not ready for the film.I was a teen at the time and remember Siskel God rest his soul blasting the film all over the media.Ebert liked it and defended it.Again, The thing will one day get its true rating in horror films.I bought the widescreen version and will stick with it for now.

Jaws 3-D (1983)

Don't watch this movie.

Garbage.The word fits this film to a tee.Jaws was the cinematic masterpiece.Then you look at this film.I watched it often as a teenager.Same goes for all the Jaws movies.I see the trouble with all the sequels in this genre and hollyland.YOU CAN NEVER REPLICATE THE ORGINAL FEARS,SUCCESS,AWARDS.Jaws3 misses the boat for these reasons:No plot,no action,no directions.Jaws3 and Jaws4 are two films they should never have made period.I am of the firm opinion Jaws and Jaws2 are the only Jaws films every made.Hollyworld less is sometimes MORE.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

A masterpiece.

This film is truely a masterpiece. No film in history has made war so real. Hanks gives his best performance to date. He is the man of the movie. The film seems real at times. The actors are first rate. 10 out of 10.

The Matrix (1999)

WOW!

I have never seen a movie quite like this.The plot is so seemlessly interwoven to itself.What is the matrix?You must see for yourself.Neo is the man of mystery in the movie.He learns that he must destroy the matrix and it lies.I think some people are confused by the plot.It is confusing.No one knows how or why the AI took over.I love the Effects and Sound.Lawerence plays the part better than any man alive can.The matrix is REFRESHING.Its not SW,Star Trek,Aliens,ETC.It is a stand alone world.Hollywood take heed from this movie.Further,Agent Smith steals every minute he is on.THE classic goverment spook plays to perfection.I can't wait to have a dvd player.In summary,The matrix now has a following similar to SW.I never get tired of watching it.Sw is the same thing for me.WO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alien (1979)

A epic materpiece of horror scifi

I rented this film last week.I hadn't seen it in about ten years.The effects and suspence are great.The charcters are real people not cutouts like in its inferior sequels.The film is more horror than anything else.I was surprised at how good the effects were for 1979.Ripley is the first female action hero. The director does a good job with his angles.There are some strange shots though. 11 out of 10.A rating for all the film.

The Green Berets (1968)

The film has been to overly picked on for decades.It is not a masterpiece.The jungle looks not like Vietnam.The helicoptor shot is horrible for se at this time in history.It stands out horriblely.John Wayne gives a good performace in the film.The plot is centered on the green berets fight to protect a few camps and mission.The film has a few good actors.I love Sergant Mulldoon's fighting spirt.He is the sarge.The politics may seem a bit jaded.At the time of the film,we had not lost or left vietnam.See it in the context of the time...

Aliens (1986)

I purchased the directors cut today.I find the added clips to make the movie 10 times better.It really fills in some of the void between alien attacks.This film is a true scifi classic.Ripely is a wonderful strong female lead action hero.The first in scfi history.The cast works well toghter.Watch SE aliens today......................

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)

I have the knowlege of being a teen in the time period of the 80s.All teens watched theSE films even when they said they didn't.Girls hated them for obvious reasons.I admit us guys would watch it for the girls.Teenagers.This film was the most scary for me.I think when you watch the early FRIDAY films ALONE you feel a tingle.Did I lock the garage window?Whats that noise?Okay here comes the review.The film takes place a few years after the orginal.You must see part1 before part2.A camp is being opened down the road from the murders in the orginal.Jason is told as a myth in campfire story.He sadly is out in the shadows watching.He begins his routine.The movie does have suspense in its chase.I feel its the best of the series.Jason is not the hoak of the later films.He scares you in this one.He is relentless in his deeds.Critcal backlash is not valid.The movie does not condone violence in its theme.I don't condone children under 12 watching this movie.I was a big fan of the series.I say in aLL honesty Part1 and Part2 are the best.Part3-4 okay.Part5-9 were totally made for studio GREED.The studio nearly ruined this genre.Sit back and turn the light off.Now watch this film.ALONE..................................

Scream 3 (2000)

To be or not to be that was the question?

Scream3 is the final film in this horror trilogy?I don't know if its was ever really a trilogy to begin with? I found the film very amusing.The charcters are good.The killer was unique.Scream3 plugs alot of holes of the first 2 films.There is always a few people who are pegged as the killer.The film is better than scream2 in my opinion.Scream2 and Scream3 don't jive.These films are a thousand times better than the ol Jason,Fredy,Myers trificata of stinkers.

Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Is it safe to go back in the water ever?

Deep blue sea is unique in many ways.The story of gentically meaner sharks is cool.I found the story to be fairly decent.The effects are okay.They do seem a little to digital in my view.That the trouble with digital sharks,creatures,etc.How to make them not stick out as such!Sam gives a so so effort.I THINK he should have a bigger part.Same thing as in the phantom menace.People wanted more of him than his cameo.Further,The comparsions to Jaws is not valid.Jaws is not trying to be repeated here.Jaws is the masterpiece and no shark movie will ever top it.Deep blue sea is a good summerflick nothing more or less.

I give it 6 out of 10...............

The Matrix (1999)

Neo means new folks......

I have not been so over joyed to watch a film like this in ages.It takes you in a never lets go.The whole film seems like being trapped in a video game.There is no blood in the shoot outs.Thats because nothing going on is real.......The agents are awesome as they defend the matrix.The guns and the lady in leather are awesome.I most say this was better than the the phantom menace.I say it with true veal.I am one big sw fan and wanted a little more from tpm.Where Lucas failed on 5/19/99 the matrix rocked...................You need not only great,visuals,music,actors,sound plot,mood,directors,script to have a classic.EACH MUST FLOW THROUGH THE OTHER.The matrix is the greatest scifi film in twenty years period.Two more films follow.I hope they show how the made guys operate and if the police are computer simulations or other people locked in the matrix.................
