Siam Sunset (1999)
Hilarious!
This movie had me laughing from start to finish. I saw it at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival, and I can't believe it wasn't their closing night feature. It was far more enjoyable than the other films I saw there. Great comedic performances and a very funny script make this a film not to be missed.
Braindead (1992)
The goriest COMEDY ever!
I love this movie, but it sure ain't no horror film. Yeah, there are zombies in it, but not one minute of this film is a serious horror. It's a comedy, and a great one at that! If you can stomach every kind of gore imaginable, you will enjoy this movie. Great performances and an imaginative (to say the least) script put this movie into classic status.
Prince of Darkness (1987)
Snore...
This movie was unbelievably boring! Talk, talk, talk, and the most action involved vomiting into other people's mouths. The only redeeming factor was Alice Cooper as a street schizo. Unfortunately, his screen time added up to about 3 minutes. The rest of this film should get used to collecting dust on video store shelves across the country. John Carpenter must have been going through some kind of bad patch to have done a film this insipid.
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
Almost made it!
"House" was a great movie, almost. Three quarters of the film was creepier and scarier than anything released in years, then it turned into typical Hollywood formula with a climax and denoument that looked more like "The Haunting ('99)" than anything anyone would actually be frightened of. Great fun and fright were lost by the time the final showdown occurred. It's a shame, because unlike "Haunting", this movie was exciting for a while.
Frogs (1972)
Terror from the swamp!
It's amazing how frightening this movie ends up being. At first it's just a typical killer creature picture, but it turns out to be a scary and fun film. Afterwards, you are a little more wary of the frogs, lizards, and everything else that causes mass destruction in this movie.
