Hollywood Shuffle (1987)
A great movie!
Robert Townsend has made a great movie about the stereotyping of blacks in Hollywood. The movie mocks both the people who created the stereotypes, and the stereotypes themselves. A lot of great little sketches are spliced in among the main plotline, and they all are....I can't think of a better word than wacky. They're all wacky. The movie also has Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Damon Wayans (if you look closely). A great movie, especially for the miniscule $100,000.00 budget.
Snookles (1986)
HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!
In grade 8, we did a film unit, and our teacher showed us Snookles. It tells the sad story of a cute baby dragon trying to make friends with a musical bird in a tree. The movie starts off a little slowly, but by around half way in (4 or 5 seconds in), you'll be laughing like there's no tomorrow. Another final joke rewards at the end for sitting through the credits. I definitely recommend this film, especially for a bunch of 8th graders! Fine Holiday Fun!
Too Young the Hero (1988)
A campy war movie....but I liked it.
Well, Too Young the Hero is a very campy war movie made for TV. My Grandfather was on the same Battleship that the story takes place during the second world war. I used to watch the movie constantly when I was younger, until I realized that it really isn't very good. The acting is not the best I've seen, and the entire story is generally not pulled off well.
