Werner - Beinhart! (1990)
Hard to find a unified vote...
Since the film is divided in animated and real sequences with a tremendous difference in quality, it is very hard to cast a vote that covers both.
The animated part is hilarious (especially the football-match) and deserves definitely 8/10 if not better. A must see!
The real part is a great opportunity to get a new beer from the refrigerator or to carry the old one to the toilet. It is so boring and unfunny, a 1/10 would be overly gracious.
My recommendation is: get it on DVD or Video and skip anything that is not animation.
Vampires (1998)
not consequent enough
One thing first: I HATE the depiction of vampires that is modern now.
I saw the film, and I cheered every time, a bloodsucker got it. My only problem with the film is (apart from too few dead vampires), that the head-vampire was depicted exactly as Jack Crow says they're not.
This is finally the film, that tries to dispose of the desirable superbeing "Vampire", that is hunted down by jealous and ignorant scientists. It really tries, but the character "Valek" destroys it all.
To quote my favorite author: "Vampires: not alive, but not dead enough"
Armageddon (1998)
Not that bad...
...until lift-off.
I was warned that this movie would be very bad by some friends, whose judgement I usually trust.
I saw it anyway.
At first I thought they were wrong, an entertaining start with impressive F/X, the introduction of the characters good with Bruce Willis and Steve Buscemi great as usual, dito the training scenes.
I told myself: "Hey, a little dumb but not bad, why did they pick on it so hard?"
At that point the movie went downhill RAPIDLY. Everything concerned with science and engineering was an insult to everyone able to bind his shoe-laces (considering the cost of every gram launched into space, why would anyone put a cannon on the vehicles? Just in case you have to shoot yourself out of a crashed shuttle?). The pathos combined with that completely unnecessary romance made my stomach turn. At the end I didn't know whether to laugh, to be annoyed at the insult or to cry over the money lost in an attempt at being entertained.
I hereby solemnly swear, never to question my friends' judgement again.
2/10
