Day of the Dead (1985)
surprised!!!!
THIS FILM WAS MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED!!!!!
after reading all the negative reviews of this film i was a little doubtful going in, however i was thoroughly surprised.
i was curious to see this film, to finish the trilogy, but was hesitant because of the bad things i had heard. i probably would have never have seen it had i not received a copy as a present. I AM DEFINATLY GLAD TO OWN IT NOW!!
i think this one ranks right up there with "Dawn". although the story is a little slow, the amazing effects make up for it. it takes some time to get into the gore, but once it starts, it's WELL WORTH IT. however, i did find the zombies somewhat discouraging. maybe it was because i was expected the zombies to look like the ones in "Dawn". i found them much more "believable" (if i can use that term) in "Dawn". conversly, i was somewhat disappointed when i 1st saw the zombies of "Dawn" because i was expecting them to look like the zombies of this film. isn't it ironic...don't ya think.
I DID TAKE NOTE OF A INTERESTING PHENOMENON WHICH OCCURS IN THE TRILOGY:
did anyone notice how the zombies seem to age in each film?? 1) in "Night" the zombies look pretty much like normal people (little makeup is used) 2) in "Dawn" the zombies are still pretty much human looking, but are painted so there skin appears to be rotting off or have a few bodily injuries 3) in "Day" the zombies are grotesque and disfigured with much decay having occurred.
i just thought this was an interesting side note. this probably has only to do with the change in special effects technology. but, i like to think this is a result of the zombies "ROAMING THE EARTH" for 2-3 years between when each film take place. and since the initial plague, have AGED/ROTTED just like normal people would. WHAT DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK ABOUT THIS??
overall i would rate this as equal with "Dawn of the dead". with both films being slightly better than "Night"
Half Baked (1998)
from worst to first
ok, i'll admit the first time i saw this movie, i thought it was a waste of time (what there was of it) and money!
however, after viewing it again on my campus movie station, i became hooked. this movie was made to be seen more than once. it has the best catch phrases i've ever heard!! with references to pop culture as well as other movies, how can it go wrong i ask you? plus, it helps if your a little in touch with the subject personally...if you get my drift
nowadays "Half Baked" ranks right up there with the best comedies i've ever seen. definitely a must see on video with lots of friends. i HIGHLY recommend you check it out. and if you don't....well, you have smoked yourself retarded!
