On Wednesday, 21 August 2019, Channel 4 announced that they have commissioned a second series of the sitcom, which will be broadcast in 2020.
On Thursday, 6 May 2021, Rufus Jones (the sitcom's writer, creator, and star) revealed on Twitter that Channel 4 Television had opted not to recommission the critically-acclaimed comedy for a third series. Home started life as a online pilot as part of Channel 4's "Comedy Blaps" comedy showcase format. It returned for two series, in 2019 and 2020, and won plaudits for the way in which it addressed a broad range of issues ranging from step-parenting to the bureaucracy of asylum and immigration systems in Britain.
